House, IOC Coordinate Activities The Inter-Organizations Council Q IOCJ is comprised of the vice presidents of all the clubs on campus who work together to organize the clubs so there are no conflicts. They also help to coordinate the activities on campus such as Homecoming Week. The House of Representatives met twice a month to dis- cuss problems and complaints from Tartans concerning the campus. Each member of the House of Representatives was assigned three classrooms to represent and to relay to each room information about what was on campus and to get any sugges- tions about the campus. Marty Montgomery, senior, was elected by the House as president and Eric Mensing, also a senior, and the ASB vice president, acted as vice president and presided over the meet- ings with the president. Karen Peters, junior was elected secretary ofthe house. The house sponsored Operation ID and a Glendora Policeman who eame on campus to identify any valuables stu- dents wanted lo prevent from theft, The House last year was called the Student Senate but this year, the group changed its name. Mr. Richard Farland, advisor, commented, ln the past, the student senate hasn't been active. This year we,re trying to be more active and get the students better representationfi l. Kathy Smith, this year's Commissioner of Activities. was president of IOC. 2. Marty Montgomery was elected President of the House and conducted the nieetings. 82 - APS AF Entertains Foreign Students The American Field Service is a widespread organization and its purpose is to bring people of different backgrounds and cultures together to learn more about one another. The organization arranges for families to sponsor a foreign student in their home. The group also raises money for GHS students to travel to a foreign country. Suzanna Georgiou, from Cyprus, Maria Placencia, from Ecuador, and Mikko Talsi attended GHS this year as part of the foreign exchange student program. Sue Stewart and Lisa Martin, seniors, were cho- sen as Glendorais AFS students QD. They spent the summer traveling in Switzerland and Australia. Senior President Kim Lawhon commented, lt's very exciting getting to know students from a foreign country. lt's amazing to find such a combination of similarities and differ- ences between their life styles and our own. Officers of the club were: Presidents, Kim Lawhon and Gail Papish. vice president was Charlene Underhill, Terry Moore was the secretary and Lisa Martin was the treasurer. .llllh Tams Serve School, Communit Tams is an honorary girls, club on campus which serves the school and the community. Belonging to the club depends on how active a girl has been in school activities. At Thanksgiving members of Tams decorated placemats and took them to convalescent homes. The annual fashion show was held on December 9, and the Senior Tams members modeled fashions from the Bridal Bou- tique and Windsor Fashions. Escorts were senior Key Club members who wore fashions from Mr. Tux, Karls Tux, Harris and Frank and Tuxedo King. The chairperson for the success- ful fashion show was Kimm Nasser. Members also helped the varsity baseball team deliver phone books and flyers to raise money. Every year the Luau is sponsored by Tams. The chairperson for this event was Julie Regan flj. Joann Turner, president of Tams commented, lt's great to see that so many girls are actively involved in a service club and participating in worthwhile service projects as a club, is very satisfyingf, The advisor for the club was Mrs. Debbie Lelewer. 2. Tams entered a float in the Homecoming parade. 3. Brent Duncan and Nancy Sturm modeled fashions in the Tams fashion show. Th-I n16l I
