82 - APS AF Entertains Foreign Students The American Field Service is a widespread organization and its purpose is to bring people of different backgrounds and cultures together to learn more about one another. The organization arranges for families to sponsor a foreign student in their home. The group also raises money for GHS students to travel to a foreign country. Suzanna Georgiou, from Cyprus, Maria Placencia, from Ecuador, and Mikko Talsi attended GHS this year as part of the foreign exchange student program. Sue Stewart and Lisa Martin, seniors, were cho- sen as Glendorais AFS students QD. They spent the summer traveling in Switzerland and Australia. Senior President Kim Lawhon commented, lt's very exciting getting to know students from a foreign country. lt's amazing to find such a combination of similarities and differ- ences between their life styles and our own. Officers of the club were: Presidents, Kim Lawhon and Gail Papish. vice president was Charlene Underhill, Terry Moore was the secretary and Lisa Martin was the treasurer.
