if 7 I M0 'iff ,tg 2: -' 9 GAL Provides Activities for Fun Growth This year has been filled with opportunities for growth, incorporating happiness, fun, enthusiasm and friendship which forms a meaningful comraderief' stated Jana Ferrari, president of Girls Athletic League. GAL sponsored many activities throughout the year the first being the bake sale held in September to help raise money for the Homecoming dance. I 'ill Only You Believe? was the theme of the Homeeoming Dance which was CAL,s big activity of the year. The dance was a success and approximately S350 was made. The well known Whizz Kids provided music forthe evening. GAL was involved in a new activity as members sold refreshments during all home wrestling meets and basketball games. :i The club also planned to attend professional hockey, bas- ketball and baseball games. Secret Pals were a popular activity in many of the sports as each girl gave gifts to another teammate and divulged herself at the end of the sport. The club also had four banquets during the year to honor girls for their athletic abilities in the seasonal sports. The yearis last activity was giving out dictionaries and awards to seniors at the senior awards breakfast in June. 1. GAL entered the robot float in the Homecoming Parade. 2. Yvonne Aquirre receives an award at the Field Hockey banquet. 3. Miss Billic- Ogle-shy put in a lot of time as advisor of GAL. 2.4: if A if , . Tartan Athletes Honored In Hall Fame The Bellendaine dedicates this page to players who exhibited outstand- ing athletic ability this year. Many players during 1976-77 were awarded ALL LEAGUE recognition. Three Glendora football players received outstanding recognition. They are: John Adams, 111 no. 55, ALL LEAGUE SIERRA CENTER FIRST TEAM, Dave Kirby, 121 no. 18, ALL- SAN GABRIEL VALLEY 1L.A. Times1 FIRST TEAM RECEIVER, All-SAN GABRIEL VALLEY 1Trib- une1 FIRST TEAM RECEIVER, ALL SIERRA LEAGUE FIRST TEAM RECEIVERQ Scott Pederson, 131, no. 16, ALL-SAN GABRIEL VALLEY 1Tribune1 FIRST TEAM DEFEN- SIVE BACK, ALL SIERRA LEAGUE FIRST TEAM DEFENSIVE BACK. Glendora girls also showed talent in various sports. Seniors Jana Ferrari, 171, FULLBACK and Janae Askew, 181, FORWARD, were selected for the FIRST ALL LEAGUE FIELD HOCKEY TEAM in the MONTVIEW LEAGUE. Outstanding ability was shown this year when the soccer team qualified for CIF competition. The Tartans won their first game against Culver City, 3-0. In the second match against Bell Gardens the Tartans went into two overtime periods hut could not beat the Lancers. Tartan soccer team members to achieve ALL LEAGUE AWARDS are: seniors Jim Marks, 161 FULLBACKQ Jerry Haws, 151, I-IALFBACKg and junior Rob Hillard, 14-1, LEFT WING. The Bellendaine wishes to congrat- ulate these athletes for their noteworthy achievements.
