IV Soccer Ends Season . l For the second consecutive year, the jayvee soccer team finished first in the league. Coached by Mr. Larry Doto, the team finished the season 5-0-3 in league play. They just put it togetherf, com- mented Coach Doto who has been active in the Glendora Youth Soccer Program in the community. Coach Doto felt that John Riccio, senior, Seth Pollman, junior, and Mark Scrog- gins, sophomore, were outstanding players for the team, nhecause they were new to the program. However, he was quick to add the winning season was due to total team effort. We experienced a lot of things through the year but tried to keep the team togctherf' Coach Doto said, com- menting that during pre-season play, the team was without a coach. For a time the team was also without ade- quate equipment hut through donations from Mr. Doto and the Clendora Soccer Youth Program, enough soccer equip- ment was found. 1. The varsity team started the season with a new offense, the 4-3-2-1-1 spread align- ment. This defensive pattern proved unsuc- cessful because of the many illnesses and the team returned to the 5-3-2-1 standard offense and defense. This year's team had many outstanding players according to Coach Hardin. These players included: seniors Janae Askew and Jana Ferrari, co-captains Terri Mar- ceron, Chris Gatherer, and Jeanette Calceron, and juniors Wendy Black- burn, ill and Sherill Hoy.
