Soeeer Team Enters CIF Competition Coach Bob Storey's prediction for the varsity soccer team, We,re shooting for firstf, came true this year when the team finished in a three way tie for first place in the Sierra League along with La Puente and Wilson. Ten varsity lettermen returned to play on the team: Jim Marks, Jerry Haws, John Bonnet, Frank Israel, Rob Hilliard, Larry Doto, Dick Coleman, Ryan Yount, Eric Mensing and Chuck Hensel. Jim Marks was probably the most outstanding player on the team, commented Storey who also stated that the rest of the team played well each game. During preseason, Mensing, Hilliard, Doto and Marks were out, all at one time, with injuries. lt was hard to come back with all these injuriesf' Coach Storey said. According to the coach, the two main men in the Tartan attack, juniors A1 MacLean and Dan Scarry, enabled Glen- dora to score many goals. . The toughest team of the season was La Puente and Glendo- ra's easiest victory came from Edgewood. The Sierra League is one of the best leagues in soccer, Coach Storey stated. Hours Practice Not Enough for IVDS Long hours of hard practice proved to he not enough to finish the season in top place for the Tartan jayvee wrestling team. The Tartans ended league play' 4--1.
