F Sophs Experience Great Year Some outstanding runners emerged from the sophomore cross country team this year. Glen Childers and Dave Hogshead were the two best runners on the sophomore team. The team held the second best times in all of Southern California when the times were totaled. The 15 runners competed in 11 meets this year and won the Azusa Invitational and were league champs at Mt. Sac. This is the first year girls got to run separately from the boys, said Coach Dave Bedell. Most ol the meets were run on a 2 mile course up and down hills near Dalton Canyon. Hogshead broke one school record this year by running the 2 mile run in 11:09. He was voted the Most Valuable player. Bob Reagan was named the Most Improved runner. Inexperience Handicaps Matmen Clendora wrestling will have a new look next year. This was a building year for us and next year Glendora Tartans should see a good wrestling team, commented Coach Rich Woods about the varsity team. The wrestlers ended the season 2-ll in league play. The team's hardest loss came against La Puente when the Tartans were defeated 40-28. 'clt was a disappointing loss, commented Coach Woods. A largely inexperienced team this year handicapped the varsity's efforts. Gnly ,two seniors and six juniors wrestled, while 26 sophomores made the team this year. Some of the outstanding wrestlers were: Jim Walker, Bruce Quarter, Dave Verrico, Mike Carpenter, Tadd Rickel and Kelley Algeo. Coach Woods was assistcfl this ycar by Mr. Scott Batie.
