2, Young Volleyball Team Ex eriences T ea iz 119 ouglz S so We just had an unlucky seasonf, commented Coach Pat Hardin about the girls' varsity volleyball team. The Tartans finished with a 1-7 record and placed seventh in the Sierra League standings. We changed our offense and looked good in practice, but we didnlt put all the skills together in the gamef' Coach Hardin continued. Outstanding players were Sue Teeple and Cheryl Stephen, juniors, who received all-league recognition. Coach Hardin commended her two setters Laurie Levin, senior, and Karin Hans, sopho- more, adding that with the new offense the setters had the toughest job. This was the youngest team at CHS and was not experienced at the beginning of the season, and yet the players improved. Stacy Wfilhite, junior, Jeanette Cal- ceron, senior, and Cheryl Stephen were our best servers. Sue Teeple and Chris Gatherer, senior, supplied the spiking power and Kelly Byrne and Lindy John- son, seniors, were both good on defensef, stated Coach Hardin. .
