The team consisted of the varsity reserves and provided a good learning experience for next yearis varsity players. Although the team did poorly, Coach Shaw felt the team learned through its mis- takes. For very little experience the JV,s had an excellent year,', commented Coach Shaw. The team's easiest victory was that against Wilson when the Tartans beat the Wild- cats by a score of 32 to 18. We played some tough teams and did surprisingly good, 4-oninu-nled Mike Bublin, junior. With outstanding assistance from Mr. Bob Cates, Mr. Chuck Hyatt and Mr. Gary Riley, plus team effort, the sophomores played well and beat their toughest opponent of the season, West Covina, by a score of 6-0. This year's sophomore football team has to be the best group to come through this school in many years,', said Mr. Bob Greene, head coach, about the team. This year, the team painted stars and skulls Q21 on their football helmets to indicate the number of good plays made by each player. Each member who continually accomplished his assignment was awarded accordinglyf' Coach Greene said. c'Defense received stars and hatchets, the offense received footballs and skulls, he concluded. 1.
