sly Lisa Martin Chosen 1 9 76 lzristmozs ueen The crowning of Queen Lisa Mar- tin, amidst a crowd of 224- Tartan cou- ples, highlighted the Key Clubis Annual semi-formal Christmas Dance on Monday, December 20, 1976. Nina Dominey, last year,s queen, placed the crown on Lisa's head QD and gave her a bouquet of red roses. Following the coronation, Lisa and her escort, Phil McMillan, danced the queen's dance CSD. I was so happy and surprised! lt was really a special momentfi expressed Lisa. She was selected by Key Club from a court including Mary Ann Grant, Sue Hite, Kathy Smith, Cheryl Westlake, and honorary prin- cess Janet Favero. Criswold's Pavillion in Claremont provided a romantic setting for the win- ter event entitled e'Only ln Your Heartf, During the evening, couples danced to and enjoyed Q21 the sounds of Becket Q4-J. Cake and soft drinks were served to students as refreshments CSD. The dance was a real successln commented George Francescon, Key Club Vice President. 19 -,-,a-,,,.,.,., -,,.,,..---f-'- ' - 2 gi Tis? Spirit Week Highlights Spring Term As Tartans rolled into second semes- ter, students registered and pulled cards during three different school days. Mass confusion prevailed 131 but somehow everyone was finally situated. The senior' class sponsored the ski hop 171, held on January 29 in the gym from 9 p.m. until midnight, started out with music from the band Cecil, which livened the atmosphere. Everyone dressed in snow wear to coordinate with the theme. One unsuspected Wednesday, the Tartans participated in an earthquake- fire drill. A common sight witnessed was the mass of bodies huddled under school desks executing the duck-and- cover position for protection. ASB sponsored a live band Rene- gades, 111 at lunch on Tuesday, Febru- ary 15. Tartans were also entertained with the amazing Sharp Show held on February 17, both at lunch and in the evening. The highlight of the evening's performance came when senior Scott Thurman unveiled his gorgeous body to' the crowd as Miss America. The Valentineis assembly was held on Thursday, February 10, to announce the four couples chosen for the dance 141. Pep groups performed and stu- dents were reminded of events for the coming week. The GHS soccer team entered CIF this season and an assem- bly was held on Friday, February 25, to honor them 151 and cheer them on to victory. Senior class members were fitted in early March for their caps and gowns 161 for the graduation ceremony sched- uled in June. Activities for Spirit Week, March 7- 13, included a Marshmallow Stuff, Bal- loon shave, Phone Booth Squeeze 181 Wheel Barrow Race, and Kiss a Pig contest.. Pegasus provided the music for the Spirit Hop on Friday night in the gym, Boy of the month for January was Eric Mensing, and for February, Brent Cashion. For March, Nick Croce was named Boy-of-the-month 121. Girls of the month were: Kimm Nasser, January and Lisa Martin, February. Spring - 31
