Winter Keeps Tartans Active The winter season in town began with the annual Clendora Christmas Parade held on December ll. Lea Antonopolis, senior, served as Grand Marshallflj. Chuck Henry, ABC newscaster who served as announcer, spent a few moments with the banner carriers before the paradef9l. Key Club also participated in the parade with their float 'A Living Christmas7f10J. That Christmas Feelingi' was the theme for the week of December 13-17. The annual Welfare Week, sponsored by Cirl's League, was headed by chair- person Janet Tolosa. Activities for the week included: class locker area deco- rating, won by the sophomoresf6l, door decoratingfl2l, and pictures with Santa. Stocking and singing grams were sold UD. The stuff the stocking race was won by the Seniorsfllj. Carrie Cope- land helped with the Cirl,s League bake salcfil-J, a band at lunchf2l, top- ped off by the Christmas assembly on Friday. All week long students dressed up and collected money for the City of Hope, like Lisa Martin, seniorffil. The juniors won the donations race by a large marginf8l with the help of several inspired junior boys. Boys who helped out the most during the week were announced Mr. Mistletoe, sophomores Ed Hupp and Dave Rowe, juniors Pete Watkins and Art Pasimio, sen- iors Stan Spooner and John Riccio were chosen. New Year's day brought the Tartan Band to Pasadena for the annual Tour- nament of Roses Parade. The back rows of band and flags were struck by a float. Two flag carriers were hospitalized. The senior class sponsored a Ski Hopw on January 29, in the gym. Tar- tans attending the dance were expected to dress up in some kind of winter out- fit. December Girl-of-the-Month, Janet Tolosa, was chosen for all the time she spent to make Welfare Week run smoothly. Greg Johnson, Boy-of-the Month, was honored for his work as ASB Presidentf5l.
