Tm PEP CLUB OFFICERS, left to right: Cheryl Westlake, Nancy Sturm, vice president, Gina Matlock, secretary, Carrie Copeland, treasurer, Melanie Anderson, historian and Cindy Smith. Pep Club Pulls Together Fulfilling their jobs as Pep Club members, the girls began working long before the new school year. Meeting as a club under the advisor- ship of Mrs. Deborah Haigh 121 and Commis- sioner of Pep, Cheryl Westlake flj, the group went to work. Their first goal was to pay the debt they hadaequired after ASB purchased their uniforms. During the summer school session, working under the direction of Mrs. Anita Hau- ger, the Pep Club cooked, cleaned and sold baked goods and soft drinks from the Malt Shop area. Through their efforts, the girls made a profit of 31001.25 Their next event was camp. All the pep groups attended the National Cheerleading Asso- ciation Camp of Champs. The groups' results were fantastic and the experience helped the girls get ready for the new year. Howdy Week activities kept the girls busy until after the football game when Pep Club sponsored the Howdy Hop featuring Eulogy as the band. Their hard work helped them collect 354-5 in ticket sales. Many new ideas and suggestions were tried, including, super spirited pep rallies that involved other clubs on campus, pom-pom shak- ers for the crowds at the games and new spe- cialty and novelty routines. The groups also per- formed with the Tartan Band and attended band competitions. Their activities included a per- formance at Meet Your Teacher Night. Pep Club also gave year-round support for all athletic teams. 'V iff-T5 I VVV- VK Z., . s -t1 f or Pep Club 99
