'Q' if , Wil Sk- i , M0 CLASS HISTORY 1979-1980 The year 1979-1980 brought many changes and challenges to us. We had to adjust to the big high school and had to deal with all the fears of being "initiated" and with the responsibility of owning our very own lockers. We all persisted, though, and thankfully made it to the eighth grade. 1980-1981 Eighth grade found all of us a little bit wiser and slowly approaching upperclassman status. 1981-1982 Becoming Freshmen brought a bit more prestige and also many new decisions. We chose our curriculum this year and elected class officers. They were: Jack Burmeister, President, Tammy Wills, Vice-President, John Campbell, Secretaryg Mary Brungo, Treasurer, and Tom Murray, Representative-at-Large. With the help of our advisors, Mr. Sciabica and Miss Burket, we ordered class sweatshirts and jerseys and took a trip to the capitol at Harrisburg. 1982-1983 As Sophomores, we, the Class of 1985, had much to do. We ordered our blue and gold class jackets and undertook an Easter candy selling campaign with the help of our advisors, Miss Clarisse Traveny and Mr. Jack Burmeister. We elected as our class leaders: Jack Burmeister, President, John Campbell, Vice-President, Kitty Stanton, Secretary, Joe Gorman, Treasurer, and Gary Rydbom, Representative-at-Large. 1983-1984 As our Junior year arrived, we finally had the taste of being an upperclassman. We were excited about ordering our class rings and planning our prom with the theme, "When l'm'With You". With the guidance of our advisors, Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Smith we selected as our officers: Jack Burmeister, President, Duane McNelly, Vice- President, Mary Brungo, Secretary, Brenda Hegarty, Treasurer, and John Campbell, Representative-at-Large. 1984-1985 We finally made it! We became Seniors, which brought much responsibility. We had many career and college choices that we had to make. With the help of our advisors, Mrs. Kathleen Adams and Mr. Richard Burmeister, we had a memorable Senior year. They helped us with our Christmas selling campaign and also helped us plan a very en- joyable and interesting class trip that we will always remember. Our class officers this year were: Jack Burmeister, President, John Campbell, Vice-President, Vicki Vereshack, Secretary, Connie Warfield, Treasurer, and John Soucek, Representative-at-Large. CLASS PROPHECY Alvin Way, who became famous with his best-seller, MY WAY, now has another book out that is being published by the brother tandem of Darryl and Doug Noal. THE WAY THEY ARE NOW is sure to surpass his previous book in its sales and because of its potential, we decided to give you a brief preview of it. It's a story of Alvin's classmates and their lives fifty years after their graduation. The first chapter deals with sports, and many Glendale High School "grads', have achieved greatness in this area. Chuck Johns and Leland Ball are both former champion prize fighters. They met in the ring only once, but the bout ended in a draw that was voted fight of the year. Philip Cmor managed professional wrestlers Duane McNelly and Steve Potutschnig and called them the Legend of Doom. This combination of wrestlers and manager is considered the most awesome team of all time. Jack Burmeister, an All-Pro middle linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Ernie Rydbom, who broke Walter Payton's all-time rushing record and became the first man ever to run for over 25,000 yards, started a new football league. John Soucek won a gold medal in Judo during the 1992 Olympics and now does Wheaties commercials. Bill Miles played professional soccer for the New York Cosmos after helping the United States win its first World Cup. Tom Murray was named to the NBA's team of the century in the year 2000 after his great career with the Philadelphia 76ers. Just recently, a basketball team comprised of Kitty Stanton, Lori Bishop, Penny Ford, Laura Yingling, and Mary Brungo played and defeated every men's professional basketball team in the world. Roger Renninger and Bryan Foust are still fighting it out to see which of them will be the all-time oldest active baseball player. They are both 67. Also recently, Bob Greenaway, Dave Helsel, Rich Shomo, and Bob Wagner won the Coalport VFW four-man bobsledding championship. Even Joanie Bordack, Dana Dixon, and Brenda Hegarty became big names in the sports world. They are former Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Last, but not least, Michelle Klein started a rating system of NFL quarterbacks based on looks and had it published by Scientific American. Big business is the subject for the second chapter, and when Alvin says big business he means big business. Fred Kitko is now the owner of the world famous K 81 F Wood Products. They have 207 branches, one near you. Chris Clave, who got into the world of business as a fashion photographer, travels the world with models Rhoda Ginter, Deb Lesher, and Tammy Wills. Lisa Smith and Tammy Potter are co-owners of a New York night club featuring all the top names in entertainment. Melinda Welsh, Lori Orehowski, and Barb Spade are owners of a large string of condos in southern California. Tammy Baum and Kathie Bowman now own an oil company in Dallas, Texas. Moe Lidwell owns Chrysler and Glenn Shomo owns Ford. Barb Skipper now has a line of cosmetics out. They are the number one cosmetics on the market. We move on to the world of science and medicine in the third chapter. John Campbell, who is now a psychiatrist, is treating Mr. Bordack's trigonometric worries. Kim Seymour has found the cure for most types of cancer. Randy Toohey, who in the past has made many scientific breakthroughs, is going to be the first GHS graduate to enter space, along with pilot Todd Bradford. Vicki Dudurich and Judy Rydbom have been given credit for discovering the lost city of Atlantis. The discovery was made when they were attempting to recover S27,000,000,000 worth of aluminum lost in the Bermuda Triangle. Dana McClellan was welcomed to the White House because of her achievements in nursing. Mindy McGary is making startling breakthroughs in the world of veterinary medicine, aided by Barb Peacock who found a cure for rabies. Rob Gallaher made millions of dollars in science and has a mansion in Blain City. He made his money in the cryogenics business by putting people Hon ice". The fourth chapter involves the subjects of politics, music, teaching, and the military. In politics, Tim Simmers, a computer expert, now works in the White House under President Paul Zipf and Vice- President Gordon Witherow. Will Baum, who was named Marine of the Year twelve straight years, has become Secretary of Defense and still likes to fix cars. Meanwhile, Kelli Bradford is planning to run for office against President Zipf. Moving on to music, John Orichosky is the new drummer of Van Halen replacing Alex Van Halen, and Kerry Gates is the lead singer of a group consisting of Becky Gates, Marie Gates, and Shirley Gates. As we go on to teaching, we find that Jim Lucas has taken over for Mr. R. B., who was his former physics teacher, and that Vicki Vereshack and Connie Warfield are the new teachers of GHS' commercial section. Finally, in the military field, Roy Dean and Bob Brown are Army drill instructors and Marc Snyder is still making his living as a Marine. In the last chapter, Alvin discusses the graduates whose jobs did not fall into one of the previous chapters. Jim Krepps, Craig Hamilton, and Don Dixon have formed a famous law firm. Don Lloyd, Eugene Willett, and Don Rickard are now park rangers. Wayne Kephart and Chip Gray were last seen running a motorcycle stunt show. Chuck Ginter is now a world class investigator for hire. Mindy Brink and Donna Gallaher have started an international flag waving craze. Bonnie Graboski has started a Polish-American club in Lyleville. Kim Krug and Becky McLaughlin are now famous movie stars. Andy Smarsh leads a motorcycle gang in Irvona, called Andy's Smashers. Alvin has announced that he is about to start his next book, THE WAY TO A WOMAN'S HEART. See the 1986 Viking for a complete review. CLASS PERSONALITIES The Most . . .
