W :Wt 'is 3 sig anguage Arts Departm nr-s Speak Correctly And Carry A Grammar Book ENGLISH DEPARTMENT-Ms. Margaret Dugan, Ms. Sharon Huff, Ms. Laura Claunch, Ms. Lisa Reynolds, Ms. Doris Chacon, Mr. Glenn Beeson, Ms. Susan Cochran, and Ms. Amy Genova. ENGLISH DEPARTMENT-Ms. .Iacalyn Romey, Mr. Cliff Scott, Ms. Esta he Language Arts Department is the lar- gest at GHS with 13 teachers. This de- partment covers English, speech, drama, journalism, and reading. Language Arts is re- sponsible for teaching students to read, write, and analyze while also introducing them to great works of literature. The department had a change during the first semester when Ms. Cochran resigned to move with her family to California. She was replaced in early November by Ms. Jacalyn Romey. Mr. Glenn Beeson, chairman of the department, is proud of the teachers in his department and the work that they do. He believes the success of this department is because the teachers, like all those at GHS, are highly qualified, care for students, and want students to succeed. Business And Indu trial Arts- Teaching Student Practical Skills 22 FACULTY he GHS Business Department con- sists of four instructors who teach students skills that will be used throughout their lives. The classes include typing, accounting, D.C.E., general busi- ness, and data processing and business ma- chines. The department uses a mastery ap- proach to learning in its courses since stu- dents must master a skill before moving on to a new skill. The Industrial Arts Department offers classes which are quite popular with many GHS students. The department's classes include drafting, woods, metals, and auto- motives. In the future the department hopes to develop a computer electronics class. Mr. LaGrow, the Chairman of the department, says that the three instructors in the department try to acquaint students with technology, industry, and leisure time activities related to Industrial Arts. if BUSINESS DEPARTMENT-Mr. Bob Brockel, Ms. Carol Hullihen, Mr. Bruce Heatwole, and Ms. Doris Chacon. ath And Science Stress Analytical Thinking MATH DEPARTMENT-Mr. Gerry Stein, Mr. Allen Forrey, Mr. Ed Schwartzkopf, Mr. Mark Wilson, and Mr. Robert Zahn. 24 FACULTY HS's Science Department strives to teach students the marvels of science through a variety of classes. The depart- ment is responsible for teaching Freshman Sci- ence, biology, physics, and chemistry. Six teachers make up the Math Department and teach classes in general math, basic algebra, geometry, advanced math and computer pro- gramming. The department's purpose is to pre- pare students for college and for their futures. Mr. Mark Wilson taught at GHS the first se- mester under a special program to help him chose between education or business. When he took a position in the business world second semester, he was replaced by Ms. McMahon who was also under the same program. g. L.. L.
