Everything was beautiful at the Arizona State Fair On what day of any year does Glendale High have the longest absence list? The opening day of the Arizona State Fair, of course! The sounds of a carnival barker or the squeals from a roller coaster, the scent of hot buttered popcorn, the dis- solving sweet of cotton candy - all these present an irresist- ible attraction which makes the fair popular during its two week run. After all, who could resist the magic of a candied apple or a soaring sky ride. The fair was many things and even signs of the coming election were evident. The promise of an afternoon rock concert brought many Glendale students out on a warm November day. An icy cold soft drink appealed to Nelson Gilkerson CIVIIDDLE RIGHTJ while Bruce Kleinschmidt CBELOWJ waited in line for re- freshments. With so many things to see and do, it was diffi- cult for Tammy Moulton and Linda Galler CFAR RIGHTJ to make up their minds where to go. Vicki Johnson seemed dazed by all the excitement as she gazed over the crowds CBOTTOIVI RIGHTD. Steve Meade, Gus Simpson and Jim Lokey CRIGHTJ had trouble finding people. Everyone wanted souvenirs - pictures, invisible dogs com- plete with Ieashes, and stomach aches from too much food. Brian Coveney CTOP RIGHTJ tried hard to take a prize home but as the day ended, many trophies hung quietly, un- claimed. i jf N-.gg f I6
