Second semester AS office posi- tions were filled by Jim Calvin, president, Glenn Wishart, vice- president Cnot picturedjg Barbara Drown, secretary, and Loren Dynneson, treasurer. The major event sponsored by the second semester student gov- ernment was the GCC Leadership Conference. Held on February 24, it succeeded in acquainting stu- dents with proper campus gov- ernment procedures. Skits were conducted to demonstrate hy- pothetical problems on the cam- pus, such as racial problems, lack of spirit and interest.

First semester A.S. officers Associated Students' organiza- tion is offered to students who are interested in learning more about campus government and how it operates. Four elective officers are chosen in the general elections held at appointed times through the year. Fifteen positions for commissionerships are also available. Throughout the year, A.S. spon- sor a number of Friday evening dances, with sounds coming from the big bands around the Valley. The '67-68 Associated Students set the pace for future Homecom- ing festivities. With the distinction as GCC campus Homecoming originators, the details and plan- ning they worked out will help guide future students and set trad- itional patterns. In reaction to student requests, A.S. reinstalled a juke box in the Grill Room to aid the student in relaxing. Continuing education student First semester officers from left to right: Dane Hays President Ron Butler Vice Kathy Henderson Sponsor Mrs Dutton Faculty sponsors Mr. Gentry, Treasurer, President Joe Grassia Front Secretary Associated Students For Con- tinuing Education is the student government representing the Evening Division program. lt is set up with weekly meetings when the officers get together to plan the forthcoming activi- ties. Their aim is to arouse inter- est in the students and the com- munity. g Among their biggest events were the sponsoring of a Ist and 2nd semester Family Night. The Continuing Education students and their families enjoyed good buffet dinners and amusing en- tertainment. Curt the Clown pro- vided the fun at the first semester Family Night, and the Wind Jam- mers, a local singing group, per- formed for second semesters en- joyment. Throughout the year the Con- tinuing Education provided the college with a program of culture and sophistication. 132
