The Oracle was produced 15 times during the year, and Calliope came out in December and May, Both publications gave stu- dents opportunities to get their literary work published. I knew that we had most of our good reporters returning this year, stated editor-in- chief Scott Bloom, so this year, we decided to stress good layout design for a cleaner, more readable paper. Four of the editors went to a convention in Kansas City in the fall, and three of them, Bloom, David Roth and Adam Freedman, placed in various competitions there. 'These awards are richly de- served because they were hard earnedf' explained journalism adviser Mr. Ted Heiser. These students, as well as oth- ers involved in the publications programs, have always strived to do the best job they could. Calliope, on the other hand, published student-produced literature and art in its bian- nual issues. During its meet- ings the staff discussed and evaluated any artistic material voluntarily submitted by stu- dents. Calliope met not only as an extracurricular activity but also as a class, so all interei students could participate. J student staff made all editc decisions. ' ln recent years Calliope featured many award-wini poems and drawings. Acco ing to Mr. David Mull sponsor, We always try publish the best material we ceive, regardless of class other factors.
