U-class acquire winning records The three Glenbrook South underclass teams proved to have successful seasons. With a 3-2 conference re- cord and a 4-4-1 overall re- cord, the sophomores finished with a 2nd place tie in Confer- ence. Sophomore Coach Ron Har- ris commented, Although we started out slowly, by the end of the year we were playing well. One of the highlighted games in the sophomores' lin- eup was the 18-12 victory over the Maine East Demons. Dur- ing the game, Carl Kotlarz passed the ball 174 yards. Our overall team play was good both offensively and de- fensively, stated Harris about the game. The freshman A team, coached by Mr. Jeff Aaron and Mr. Steve VonBoeckman, finished their season with a 2- 2-1 conference record and 4-3- 1 overall record. During the season, Brian Anderluh, and Ricky Warren established new freshman re- cords for number of yards passing. Brian threw for 876 yards and Ricky gained 630 yards in pass receptions, com- mented VonBoeckman. An ecouraging victory for the A's was against Deerfield, 14-6. Before the game, Deer- field had beaten Waukegan West and tied Glenbrook North, two teams the Titans had previously lost to. As coaches, Mr. Aaron and I felt we had a very successful season, concluded VonBoeck- man. The freshman B team, coached by Mr. Donn Start and Mr. Tim Mincey, conclud- ed their season with a 2-1 con- ference record and a 3-3-1 overall record. Dave Wiviott was named best punter in the conference and Dave Leverenz earned the outstanding quar- terback award. The freshman B's scored a much sought-after victory over GBN, 24-6. The victory over GBN was the first by a freshman team since 1974 so it tasted sweet to everybody involved, com- mented Start.
