Loud sounds don9t bother concert buffs Today, people have opportunity to See top singers on TK but also to The crowd screams and cheers as the lights go out and the strum of a guitar chord heard. Then the lights suddenly flash back on as the favorite rock or pop singer walks onto a stage. This is a routine well-known to the devoted concert goer. A favorite pastime for many GBS students is going to concerts. Due to the wide variety and large number of singers and music, stu- dents can go to many places to witness a concert. The Rosemont Horizon, Poplar Creek, Alpine Valley, Ravinia, and the Inter- national Amphitheatre are the more promi- nent places for concerts in the Chicago area. WWA Senior Janet Lucas selects two Pat Benatar albums at a local record store. Bruce Springsteen, known as The Boss, came to the Rosemont Horizon September Sth, l0th and llth after cancelling out during the preceding summer. l4fConcerts And Music l've been to both Rush and Journey at Alpine Valley. The concerts were great and the crowds were rowdy, said junior Chris Dixon. Aside from groups like Journey, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Rush, Styx, Foreign- er, The Rolling Stones, Genesis, and Van Ha- len, students can see bands put together by peers. Cimeron, meaning wild and Indian, is one such band. The band, consisting of seniors Tim Cullitan and Steve Ridenour, and sopho- mores Kevin Philman, John Flanz, and Andy Grundy, meets twice a week.
