The club, which was officially chartered last September, consisted mainly of students in Mr. Tony Laouras' English classes last year, who are now seniors. Epicureans turned up irregu- larly at restaurants such as Lou Jennifer Rockford, Trudy Holeczy, John Bubala, and Patti Lamonaca at- tend the Epicureans' celebration of Oktoberfest at Morton House. Malnati's Silo, the Morton House, and even Arby's to eat, drink, exchange ideas, and sometimes, to engage in some serious partying afterwards. Members tried to choose a range of fairly inexpensive res- taurants specializing in differ- ent ethnic foods. In order to plan their outings, Epicureans held meetings beforehand at school. The thing I like about it, explained Rockford, is that it gives kids who are fun-loving and hard-working, a chance to go out and have fun. The club is working for us, we're not working for it. Laouras formed the club so that his students would have opportunities to get together in a non-school situation, Many of his students, like those in his honors classes, were the type who were always immersed in their homework, therefore, Laouras thought it would be a good idea to give them a diver- sion. Laouras is a good person to know. He takes a personal in- terest in the members. I think that's why kids are in his club. The club is a reflection of his interest in the kids, Rockford concluded.
