FOR MY DAUGHTER KATHLEEN LOUISE RAMIREZ My Dearest Kathy: I ' ve been thinking, my darling daughter, about all the times you ' ve believed in me when I didn ' t even believe in myself, times you understood me when I was so difficult to understand, times you encouraged me when I needed it most. Those days when you also needed understanding and encouragement, too. In many ways, my dearest daughter, if we fell or failed, we, together have gotten up and found strength to get to where we are now. You didn ' t have to prove to anyone the strength and courage you have. You grew from a little girl to a young woman in such a short time. You have carried and carry yourself with pride. You went out into the adult world and found a job and continued to bring up your grades the best way you could. And e en though it sometimes seems as if we ' re out of touch and don ' t always undersi nd each other, the bond between us runs much deeper. We may ot always see things eye to eye, but we always seem to feel things heart to heart, ihe love between us finds a way to understand what the eyes and ears cannot.
