C ross C o u nt ry QL T0 RJ Bob Angevine, Wayne Braffman, Martin McCoy, Craig Lewis, and Gene Strangio. Glen Ridge finally materialized its dream of a cross country team this fall. It came into being mainly through the efforts of Seniors Wayne Braffman and Craig Lewis. The boys who made up the team usually worked out on their own. They were often seen running up Ridgewood Avenue together. Mr. Joseph Umanski, the team advisor, arranged most of the cIub's meets. The first seven boys who made up the team were Craig Lewis, Jeff Ramsey, Wayne Braffman, Bob Angevine, Dan Schaible, Martin McCoy, and Gene Strangio. Many of the same boys who competed in cross country took part in indoor track. The boys competed in two state development meets and also in the state relays. Fred Kurtz garnered the only medal during the development meets with a first place in the shot put, which also established a new school record of 57' 10 1!2 . In the state relays, a distance medley consisting of Jeff Ramsey in the three-quarter, Bob Schaible in the quarter, Bob Angevine in the half mile, and Craig Lewis in the mile took second place behind Highland Park, a group ll school. Mr. Norm Spencer was the team advi- sor. Posing for indoor track are Bob Angevine, advisor Norm Spencer, Bob Schaible, Jeff Grimm, Mark Finnegan, and Craig Lewis.
