0 PROFILE ”5 Dedication It is with sincere appreciation for the untiring interest he has shown in the students of Glen Cove High School, that we, the class of 1975, dedicate this yearbook to Mr. DiChiara. As assistant principal, Mr. DiChiara has gone beyond the normal office duties required of him, devoting much of his time to evening recreation at the high school, as well as being an enthusiastic participant at many of our games. It is his deep concern for the students combined with a high sense of school spirit that has nurtured an easy and effective rapport between our administration and the student body. In gratitude for Mr. Di-Chiara's efforts, we proudly offer this yearbook to him. Ill How can you characterize the feelings of students of Glen Cove High School towards the death of Al Morra? He wasn't a class clown or a hero of the gridiron, but he was well he was known as a friend to many and was outstanding in his own great way. Though slight in stature, Al nevertheless went out for football and baseball. He was known to all as an aggressive competitor, yet at the same time, a fair-minded and courteous player who loved the game. He subsequently received the coveted Fantry Award for sportsmanship in baseball's Campy League. Yet his abilities did not end there. Al's academic prowness was unsurpassable, achieving the highest grade average of all Seniors throughout his first three years at Glen Cove High School. These are but sidelights to a student who really shined. Perhaps what will most be remembered about Al is his gentleness, his quietness — and maybe his saintliness, for he was known to have said to a priest during his slow death, that he wished he could have suffered more. We have all hung our heads and cried at Glen Cove High School, yet we know Al Morra did not die in vain. Fans begin to slowly fill the stadium. The locker room is filled with football players getting psyched for another big day, another big challenge “You take your time getting dressed and you think about what you're gonna do and how you're gonna do it. As the first play starts hundreds of enthusiastic faces cheer on with hopes and dreams of a VIC-TORY. Players are tense You know the first hit's gotta be the hardest; you've gotta show those guys you're tough. ' You gotta get down low — ready to burst out. You're psyched and tense, and the only thing on your mind is yardage. You hit hard and you hit low — then you hit some more. The team plays well and there's a sense of accomplishment among the players, but the pressure still builds It's nerve racking. Ya get roudy; ya get mean and mad, and ya want to play harder. Then there is the ultimate experience — WINNING. You know you have spent weeks out there practicing, and practicing hard. It has all led up to a victory, it has all been worth it It's nice, real nice. Everyone goes nuts! You feel like partying, you've earned it. Winning is the happiest ifedling, you've got to feel it to believe it. •' Y A good team not only says they're gonna win,-they do win —our team is good; we're together like a family and when we win we win together.
