SECOND ROW: Steve Kaufman, Jeff McCall, Allan Sandler, Jay Kaplan, (not pictured — Ira Sadoff). This year Glen Cove High initiated a new sport into its interscholastic schedule. Cross Country. This sport entails a run of not more than two and one half miles through the surrounding area. Although the squad had a poor season, the sport is likely to be a regular addition to the school's sports schedule in the years to come. This year's team was coached by Mr. Williams, a member of the Junior High faculty. WRE8TLING Press him, take him down, these were the cries which resounded throughout the Deasy School gym this winter as the new Varsity Wrestling Squad practiced. The team, coached by Mr. Harvey Jes-sum, got much needed experience for next year, especially since the team contained so many underclassmen. One of the finest wrestlers on the squad was John McCaully, who achieved a nearly perfect record in his matches against formidable opponents. Mike Berger and Phil Lofton: Practice makes perfect. John McCaully takes Peter Blatt for a two in one ride.

R. Beck watches as P. Graf stretches for an overhand slam. TENNIS This year the tennis team showed improvement over last year's team. Its record was not too impressive due to the fact that the team lost many close decisions. Led by Stuart Kaufman, Jim Wal-zer. Bob Nash, and Bruce Goldberg, it won several matches. Coach Barteau is looking forward to a good season next year. GOLF Golf teams in the past at Glen Cove High have been noted for their excellence. Last year was no exception. Lou Farrell, Ben Sorecenski, Stu Kaufman, Bill Dwyer, and Sal Moccia led the team to an impressive record and second place in its division. The team placed third in the Nassau-SufFolk Championships at the end of the season. In this tournament, Stu Kaufman was among the leaders of the two-day event with an aggregate score of 161. With seasoned veterans like Sorecenski, Kaufman, Dwyer, and Moccia returning this year, the team is headed for a league championship. Above: B. Goldberg — Here I come, readv or not.
