While most of us were still thawing out from winter’s cold, Glen Cove’s Varsity Track team was chewin' out the track. At the season's start, there were great expectations, in view of the previous championship performance. This year, however, due to the loss of vital manpower, our relay team fell short. This year, the team's record over-shadowed those of our football and soccer teams—a fact of no little importance since it brings Glen Cove into view as a possible champion in at least one sport. 4 X E. Borum lets go from the floor as Wheatley opponents fail to frustrate a set shot. Glen Cove had to drink a bitter brew this season. However, some of the bitterness of defeat was erased when the Covers beat old rivals, Great Neck and Port Washington. It was a tight race for most of the season, but suddenly the bottom fell out from under the Covers. Though they lost several games by either one or two points, league standings, unfortunately, are not determined by the quality of the play, but the quantity of wins. 30 VARSITY BASKETBALL 1958-1959—Front Row, left to right: W.
