DONALD MILLER There’s a certain something about Don” that defies description, and whatever it is, it’s an enviable attribute. It could be his wavy hair, his twinkling eyes or his own special grin; or, then again, it might be his jolly laugh. Don is the lucky possessor of many attributes, and the Class of ’50 is the lucky possessor of Don.” Activities: Band 1, 2, 3, 4; Orchestra 1, 2; Spanish Club 2. FRANCES MOORE From the top of her lovely blonde head to the tips of her dancing feet, there is rhythm and grace in Fran’s every movement. It’s almost unbelievable that one so petite possesses so much pep and effervesencc. She has earned many friends, for Fran’s” aim seems to be to please and delight others. Activities: Commercial Club I, 2. 3; Interclass Volleyball 2, 3, 4; Inter-class Softball 2, 3, 4; Interclass Basketball 2, 3, 4; Tattler 4. ANGELA MONG Although she appears quiet and unassuming, Angela's more intimate classmates can vouch for a genuine sense of humor, w hich shines through at unexpected moments. Angela came to us from Central America and though she has been here for only two terms, her dark smiling eyes and amiable wavs make her a real exponent of the Good Neighbor Policy. Activities: Glee Club 3, 4; Commercial Club 3, 4; Spanish Club 3, 4; Bowling 4; Interclass Basketball 4. ESTHER MONGELLUZZO Esther is one of those girls who is always seen but seldom heard. Beneath her quiet reserve sparkles a charm and wit possessed by few. Always ready with a shy smile and sincere hello , Esther is really a grand girl to know. Activities: Volleyball 4; Interclass Basketball 3, 4; Interclass Badminton 3, 4. LOUISE MONGELLUZZO So nice she ought to be twins—so she is. Lou” is pretty enough for two, and both she and her twin are dark-eyed beauties. But on her own, Louise has an individual brand of good humor, and her own personal qualities of friendliness and gaiety. The Mongel I uzzos are a double portion of looks and personality. Activities: Intcrclass Basketball 2, 3, 4; Interclass Softball 1, 2, 3, 4; Inter, class Volleyball 4; Interclass Badminton 2, 3, 4. CHARLES MORRIS A cheery laugh and a winning smile make Sinny” one of the favorite members of our class. His keen wit and jovial mannerisms have livened up many classes. Sinny manages to do work if there is work to be done, but he is much happier, and much more natural in the role of class jester. Activities: J. V. Football; Interclass Basketball 1, 2. BARBARA OAKES Perhaps reserved with strangers, Barbara’s friends know she is a barrel of fun. And Barbara’s friends are many. Maybe they are attracted by her neatness, they could be intrigued with her skill in sports, or they maybe just fun lovers, those who enjoy Barbara’s wit. Activities: Glee Club 1, 2, 3, 4; Interclass Softball 1, 2, 3; Interclass Basketball 1, 2, 3, 4; Varsity Basketball 3, 4; Biology Club 2; Spanish Club 2, 3; History Club 4; Interclass Vblleyball 4. JOHN PALMIROTTO If we attempt in a witty fashion to summarize John’s many attributes, we could borrow the Chestcrfieldian phrase, He satisfies. People are just naturally attracted by his wit and amazing aliveness—and everyone enjoys John’s individual brand of humor. JOAN MARCUS You can first spot her by the stunning wardrobe she sports, and by the flair with which she wears it. On second glance, it is impossible to overlook her twirling skill as a majorette. Then, if you look closer and detect a mischeivous grin—you're feasting your eyes on Joan—a terrific girl. Activities: Band - Majorette 1, 2, 3, 4; Interclass Basketball 1, 2, 3, 4; Interclass Volleyball 1, 2, 3, 4; Bowling 2, 3- JOANNA MARTINO When Joanna came to Glen Cove in September, she was sure-fire bait for success. It didn’t take people long to notice this cute, curly-haired girl with the radiant smile and it took even less time for her to become popular and well-liked. Activities: Interclass Basketball 2, 3, 4; Interclass Softball 2; Volleyball 2, 3: Glee Club 2, 3; Dramatic Club 2; Commercial Club 4; Cheerleader 2, 3; Hockey 2, 3. NF.IL MARTINO Neil is a quiet, well mannered fellow, always ready with a friendly smile and ever willing to help. Never uttering an unkind word for anyone, Neil is known for his smart dress and smooth dancing as well as for his flawless manners. His congenial ways and friendly attitude will carry him far in his future undertakings. Activities: Latin Club 1, 2; Biology Club 2. JOSEPHINE MASONE A welcome addition to the Class of ’30 was Jo.” She contributed sweetness, charm, and poise, plus her own individual brand of humor. Josephine covers up her shyness by always wearing a big smile; this has the power to brighten up everyone around her. Activities: Varsity Basketball 2, 3, 4; Interclass Volleyball 3, 4; Interclass Basketball 2, 3, 4; Interclass Softball 3, 4. CECILIA MAXWELL Celie , one of the most athletic girls in the school, will long be remembered for her peppy chccrlead-ing and perfect splits. A lover of all sports, Celie can often be found displa)ing gymnastic skill and good sportsmanship. An all-around, active girl is Celie. Activities: Interclass Basketball 1, 2, 3. 4; Interclass Softball 2, 3, 4; Inter-class Volleyball 4; Bowling 2; Varsity Basketball 2, 3, 4; Cheerleading 2. 3,4. michael McDermott A favorite among both classmates and teachers is Mike. One of the quieter members of our class, Mike is, nevertheless, one of the most friendly and is most willing to cooperate whenever he is called upon to do his share in any activity. We all admire Mike for these characteristics, and know that life holds nothing hut success in store for him. Activities: French Club 2, 3, 4; Biology Club 3. JOAN MEALING There’s friendliness and evidence of perfect manners in Joan’s every gesture. If nature made Joan a little timid, the fact is usually well hidden behind a broad grin. Among her classmates and teachers, Joan has made many lasting friends, for her friendly and gracious ways are hard to resist. Activitits: Glee Club I, 2, 3, 4; Tattler 4; Homeroom President 2; PROFILE 4. FANNIE MEDUGNO Fannie, though rather shy, has won many friends because of her sweet simplicity. It is the little things that cannot help but make Fannie well-liked—her unaffected smile, her demure charm. WILLIAM PAYNE Bill” has a great knack for making and keeping friends. His flashing smile, wavy blond hair and friendlv pcrsonality accompany him wherever he goes. He can be readily spotted by his smart appearance, artistic ability and dancing skill. Billy is an exceptionally fine student, well-liked by both teachers and classmates. Activities: Glee Club 1 2, 3, 4; PROFILE 4. HANS PKCKMANN Known to all as Pecker-Tracks”, Hans' handsome features, along with his unique humor and alert wit, have enlightened many a dull moment for his classmates. He has been outstanding musically—lending his talent to the band, and has starred equally as a soccer player. Activities: Band 1, 2, 3, 4; Photography Club 1; Soccer 4. KARL PECKMANN Karl, one of the Valley boys, is found to be a well-mannered and ambitious fellow. He is earnest and hard working and cver-ready to lend a helping hand to everyone. Karl has the rare combination of common sense, intelligence, and wit. He is a great music lover and therefore, a popular member of the band. C ARM ELLA PERROTTA The Senior Class was fortunate to be graced with Connie” in their midst. For this peppy, dark-eyed beauty added a special spark that would have been hard to do without. It’s just a certain something that Connie has that accounts for her multitude of friends. Activities: Library Club 2, 3, 4; Commercial Club I, 2; Safety Council 1, 2; Tattler 3, 4; Interclass Volleyball 1, 2; Interclass Basketball 3; Photography Club 2. 0 Vi EILEEN PETROSKI A ball of fire on the cheering squad, and always a perfect lady, Eileen has just about everything a girl could want, plus a little bit extra. Her stately grace and flair for wearing nice clothes are justifiably envied and her cheering skill is much coveted. JOAN PICKERING We could use every favorite adjective including charming. sparkling, and vivacious, yet we would not have flattered one bit — nor painted a complete picture of Joan. She is so much the typical high school girl; but words fail to convey her jovial spirit. KATHRYN PIETRZAK Kathryn, better known as Kelly, is everyone’s friend. Always ready and willing to lend an ear to other peoples joys and sorrows, Kelly is probably one of the peppiest and most popular members of the Class of ’50. Immaculately and beautifully dressed, Kelly’s” character and personaiity are decidedly flawless. LIBBY POSNER Libby owes much of her success in high school to her friendliness and charming personality. Add to this already pleasing picture, good looks and intelligence, and it’s clear why Libby found friends in students and teachers, too.
