DIANE JASZEK How sweet and fair she seems to be. —Walpole. Coming to our school in her Junior year, Diane soon became outstanding for her scholastic achievements. Her quiet and sympathetic ways have won her many friends, and, as can be seen by her many activities, she has made numerous valuable contributions to her class. Activities: Tattler 4; PROFILE 4; Latin Club 3; Spanish 3, 4; Alpha 3, 4; Masquers 3. 4. HARVEY JOHNSTON True wit is everlasting, like the sun. —Buckingham. Tall, dark and handsome by no means entirely describe Harvey. Energetic and a lover of sports, he is a member of both the soccer and track teams. He has a keen sense of humor, a sharp perception of the ludicrous and an even sharper wit. Activities: Track Team 2, 3, 4; Soccer 4; Tattler 4; Glee Club 2; Glider Club 2. ELLA LOUISE JOHNSON Friendship! mysterious cement of the soul. —Blair. Among her many winsome attributes Ella posseses a charming smile, a lovely personality, and a keen sense of humor. She takes an active interest in all sports and has displayed her ability in basketball and softball. We are sure that these fine qualities will lead Ella straight along the path to success. Activities: French Club 2, 3, 4; Interclass Basketball 2; Softball 1. PATRICIA JOHNSTON Though I am young, I scorn to flit On the wings of borrowed wit. —George Wither. Pat came to us last year from Sewanaka. and it may truly be said that their loss was our gain. And what a gain! Vivacious, loquacious Pat with her ready smile and her quickness in turning everything into a joke is a fine person to have around when you aTe in the depths of despair, for none can resist her. Feeling low? Then Pat is just what the doctor ordered. Activities: Spanish Club 3. 4; Masquers 4; French Club 3; Tattler 4. THELMA JOHNSON Laugh and be well. —Green. Thelma's wittiness makes her very welcome to any group with which she may come in contact. One can always find her in the center of a gathering enlightening her friends on the current puns and little items of interest. Her tall stature lends a sophisicated air to her attractiveness, and her ready smile is a quick incentive to friendship. Activities: Library Club 1, 2, 3, 4; Biology Club 3; Latin Club 2, 3; Glee Club 1; Interclass Basketball 2; PROFILE 4. FLORENCE JUST Forever foremost in the ranks of fun. —Byron. Cute little trick! That's Flo, with fun and excitement bursting out all over. Flo is a very cheery cheerleader. always on the job when our teams meet their rivals. When she is around, everything is sharp and there's never a dull moment. A happy life is awaiting you, she was told by Fu Man Chu. Activities: Cheerleader 3, 4; Soccer 4. 25

BERNARD HICKS JOHN HEGGIE Brevity is the soul of wit. —Shakespeare. Big John is one of those persons who can fit in anywhere. When there is work to be done, he's right on the spot; and when there is a joke session, Johnny” can always be found in the middle of it. He is. perhaps, best known for his mellow “sax , and as leader of the Rhythm Kings , he has been responsible for the fine music provided at assemblies and dances during the past year. Activities: Band 1, 2, 3, 4; French Club 3. 4; Mixed Choir 4; Vice-President 4; Vice-President 3; Tattler 2. 3. 4; Orchestra 2, 3. 4; Masquers 2, 3, 4; Latin Club 1; Football 2. 3; Glee Club 2; Library Club 2; Alpha 2; Vice-President of French Club 3. AUGUST HEILIG You were a good man and did good things. —Thomas Hardy. When you look at Gus , you know just the kind of a person he is cheerful, sympathetic, always kind and ready to give a helping hand. As hobbies, he likes to raise chickens and go fishing. His real talent lies in tinkering with mechanical things, and you can usually find him puttering away at his father's car. As a career he's chosen a job he's sure to like, that of a mechanical engineer. Best of luck to a friendly Senior—Gus! JOAN HEMMINGS And every humour has his adjunct pleasure, Wherein it finds a joy above the rest. —Shakespeare. Quiet to those unfamiliar with her, Joan has a perpetual run of wit and mirth. She seems to be always laughing at one thing or another. A good friend and a good student is Joan Hemmings. Good luck! Activities: Latin 2, 3, 4: French Club 4; Safety Council 2. Chiefly the mould of a man's fortune is in his own hands. —Francis Bacon. Bernard's broad smile and lively personality make him a welcome addition to any group. He has an exceptionally keen sense of humor and never fails to see the amusing side of a situation. The Glen Cove High School track team has profited by Bernard's interest in sports. Activities: Track Team 3, 4. KATHLEEN HOWELL And I oft have heard defended,— Little said is soonest mended. —Wither. Quiet? Aye. sir, but don't let that fool you. Beneath Kathleen's strong silence and firm modesty is hidden a keen wit and a fun-loving spirit. She's always ready to join in the fun and to get the most out of life. Good luck, Kathy! Activities: Glee Club 2. 3. 4; Commercial Club 3, 4. YVONNE INNES Good the more Communicated, more aboundant grows. —Milton. Yvonne has an immense vocabulary with which she is always puzzling someone. She is sweet and a good friend to those with whom she has come in contact. Yvonne should go far after graduation because she is persevering and has a pleasant personality. Activities: Spanish Club 2, 3; French Club 4; Tattler 2, 3, 4.

THEODORE KAPUSCINSKI My tongue within my lips I rein. For who talks much must talk in vain ' —Gay. Taj , as he is commonly called, is known to all as one of the Landing boys. He is a swell fellow who has a lot of pep and vigor which he displays in anything he undertakes. JOHN KENNEDY If it be my luck, so. —William Shakespeare. John is a friendly senior with a rather slight build that has earned him numerous nicknames from his friends. He is one of those happy-go-lucky fellows who seldom seems to have a worry or care and who is determined to have a good time in life. DOLORES KOBESKY Her sunny locks Hung on her temples like a golden fleece; And many Jasons came in quest of her. —Shakespeare. Nothing is dull when Dolores is around! She is full of pep and adds to everyone's enjoyment by her keen wit and jovial manner. In her spare time, she likes to ramble in rhyme for her own and her friends' amusement. She also is a twirler in the Glen Cove Firemen's Band .... and as for dancing, she not only enjoys it, but is very good at it. Dolores plans to be a bookkeeper. Good luck, Dolores! Activities: Commercial 1, 2, 3, 4; Photography Club 2; Senior Executive Committee 4. LORRAINE LAMB Happy am I, from care I'm free! Why aren't they all contented like me? —Opera of La Bayadere. Lorraine is one of those lucky people who can keep smiling no matter what happens. With never a sharp word for anyone, she impartially metes out her gay smile and infectious laghter to everyone about her. Lorraine bears an amazing resemblance to Marcy McGuire of the movies, but we don't believe Marcy could come close to competing with Lorraine's friendly nature. Activities: Biology Club 4; Spanish Club 3, 4; Safety Council 2, 3; Soccer 4. RICHARD KLENKEL Strong thoughts are iron nails, driven in the mind, that nothing can draw out. —Diderot. Dick certainly has what it takes. He possesses an indefinable quality which seems to make everyone like him. As a student, his marks are near the top of the list and they've all been gained through hard work. His classmates term him a regular fellow , and his teachers admire him greatly. Activities: Masquers 3, 4; Alpha 3, 4; Library Club 3, 4; Photography Club 2; PROFILE 4; Safety Council 4; Spanish Club 2, 3. 4. JOHN LARSEN He ceas'd; but left so pleasing on their ear His voice, that list'ning still they seem'd to hear. —Pope. Johnny, the sandy-haired vet , a recent addition to Glen Cove High, has proved himself to be pleasant and gentlemanly He has a definite sense of humor which brings on many of his quick grins. John has a beautiful voice, with which he has graced our Mixed Choir. He plans to be a doctor after graduation. Activities: Mixed Choir 4.
