When you look at Gus , you know just the kind of a person he is cheerful, sympathetic, always kind and ready to give a helping hand. As hobbies, he likes to raise chickens and go fishing. His real talent lies in tinkering with mechanical things, and you can usually find him puttering away at his father's car. As a career he's chosen a job he's sure to like, that of a mechanical engineer. Best of luck to a friendly Senior—Gus! JOAN HEMMINGS And every humour has his adjunct pleasure, Wherein it finds a joy above the rest. —Shakespeare. Quiet to those unfamiliar with her, Joan has a perpetual run of wit and mirth. One of her amusing poems is enough to convince you of her ability. A diligent worker, she is tops in both scholastic and extracurricular activities. Ding , as her friends call her, is an all-around Senior who enjoys going to parties and having a good time. She is also keen at dancing, and although she likes all sports, she prefers horse-back riding. Looking into the crystal ball a happy and full life is seen for versatile Dot. Activities: Softball 2, 3. JUNE HAGSTROM A lovely being, scarcely formed or moulded, A rose with all its sweetest leaves yet unfolded. —Lord Byran. June's faithful service to Glen Cove High can easily be seen by glancing through her long list of activities. Though small in stature, June has proven her ability in big ways and this year has the responsible task of editing The Tattler . Besides a pleasing personality, June possesses a scholastic record that is just tops. Yet, underneath this happy-go-lucky exterior is found a person who works hard in any task she may undertake. Ruth is a lover of fine music, and she herself plays the piano. She dreams of being a concert pianist someday. However, she is doing more than just dreaming. She is studying to make that dream come true. DIANE JASZEK How sweet and fair she seems to be. —Walpole. Coming to our school in her Junior year, Diane soon became outstanding for her scholastic achievements. Her quiet and sympathetic ways have won her many friends, and, as can be seen by her many activities, she has made numerous valuable contributions to her class. Tall, dark and handsome by no means entirely describe Harvey. Energetic and a lover of sports, he is a member of both the soccer and track teams. Thelma's wittiness makes her very welcome to any group with which she may come in contact. Her tall stature lends a sophisicated air to her attractiveness, and her ready smile is a quick incentive to friendship.
