KENNETH NILSEN Activities: Library Club 2, 3; Glider Club 3. Making model airplanes and tinkering with radios are Ken’s favorite pastimes. His chief hobby, however, is collecting tropical fish of which he already has a huge collection. After graduation, Ken plans to enter the Merchant Marine. MARY NORTON Activities: French (dub 4: Latin Club 4. Mary, a new Senior who entered (»len Cove High this year, came from St. Dominies. She likes dancing, is an ardent football fan, and has won many friends because of her sincerity and friendliness. At tile close of school, Mary plans to enter college. EDWARD NORWESH Activities: Hand 1, 2, 3, 4; Latin Club 1, 2; French Club 2, 3, 4; Alpha 3, 4. “Ed” is an all-around fellow interested deeply in the lively activities of dancing, band playing and and also all kinds of sports. He ads livelihood to conversations by telling jokes and performing all kinds of mystical and astonishing tricks in which he specializes. He enjoys a good time but never overindulges. Scholastically? Ed has been in the Alpha for the last two years!—a fine student. DOREL MYERS Activities: Alpha 1, 2, 3, 4; Masquers 3, 4; Track 4; dee Club I, 2; Spanish Club 1, 2; Latin Club 1, 2, 3; Profile Staff: Executive Committee; Gym Team. Possessor of a dual personality, Dorel seems to have as much fun over bis own antics as we do. Still, he is an intelligent fellow, as is evident by his years in Alpha. He is well known ami well liked all around the school. How many times have we gathered around him to watch the brilliant sketches form beneath his talented fingers? How many times have we laughed uproariously at his clever imitations., Dorel is planning to attend a dental college and we - know that success must be his. WALTER PADDISON Activities: Band 1, 2, 3, 4; Orchestra 1, 2, 3, 4; Football 2, 3, 4; Basketball 1. If the corner gypsy fortune teller ever foresees a tall, dark and handsome football hero in your life— you’re a lucky girl! It just has to be “Pat,” one of our favorite Seniors and right guard on our fine football team. Pat also toots a “mellow” trumpet in our school band. A real outdoor man, his favorite pastimes are hunting, fishing and hockey. Pat plans to join the Navy soon after graduation and we wish him luck. 31

EUGENE MERKEL Activities: Profile Business Staff 4; Senior Ball Committee. If ever you have run across a big smile with blue eyes and blonde hair, that was Eugene Merkel. Owner of one of the snappiest jalopys that has ever wedged itself into the school parking space. Gene is full of the vim, vigor and vitality that goes to make a popular Senior. He plans to be a mechanical farmer when he graduates and we all wish him success. JOSEPH MORRIS Activities: Gym Team; Executive Committee. Joe is an active fellow with a bouncing spirit. His timely jokes in History amuse the class and sometimes even the teacher. Joe likes outdoor life and sports, such as football, baseball and boxing. He is a member in good standing with the Sea Scouts, which probably accounts for the fact that he enjoys the sea and all types of sea eoing craft. He also takes an interest in the opposite sex. GRACE MILLER Activities: Band 1, 2, 3; Glee Club 3; Art Club 3, 4; Junior Prom Committee 3; Latin Club 2, 3, 4. Both Grace’s charming Derson-ality, and keen sense of humor have made her popular and fun to be with. Her outstanding ability in art has been admired by everyone. We certainly hope she will continue her studies in this field so that her work may he displayed and seen by everyone. DAVID MITCHELL Activities: Band 1, 2, 3, 4; French Club 2, 3, 4; Latin Club 1, 2; Glee Club 1, 2. David’s ambition lies in the field of aviation. With hut a glance he is able to determine the identification and the type of any plane which happens to be cruising in the air. Dave plans to he a pilot upon graduating and has made an excellent choice. He has grasped the fleeting trait of perseverance and initiative. We are sure that David will acquire what he desires in life. Good luck, Dave! JOAN MOORE Activities: Latin Club 1, 2; Spanish (dub 3, 4; Photography Club 3, 4. Sugar and spice and two delightful dimples; that’s what “Pat” is made of. A conscientious student, a lovable pal and an all around grand gal. Pat is hound to be successful in her chosen career, nursing. 30

ALEXANDER PATRICK Activities: Band 1, 2, 3, 4. Take an easy going, nice looking, popular Senior hoy, top him off with just the right amount of shyness and a grin that makes his eyes crinkle up and you've got one of the most super fellows in the Senior class, Alexander Patrick. “Ike” doesn’t know what line of business he wants to go into yet hut whatever it may he, we all wish him luck in it. ROSEMARY PUTALA Activities: Basketball 1, 2, 3, 4; Baseball 1, 2, 3, 4; Library Club 2, 3; Spanish (dub 2, 3, 4; Safety Council 4; Profile 4. Always smiling, happy, and gay, is our Rosemary. Decidedly an all 'round girl, she is intensely interested in sports. Things always seem to brighten up when she is around as she is the fortunate possessor of a keen wit. A willing and enthusiastic Senior, she is always ready to lend a helping hand whenever a situation presents itself. Rosemary has displayed, at all times, a fine school spirit, and will always he remembered for it. MARJORIE PETERSON Activities: Commercial Club 4; Safety Council 4; Archery Club 1; Baseball 1. Marjorie, soft spoken and sweet mannered, is a newcomer to Glen Cove High this year. Her first three years were spent at Mineola. Tall, stately and very well groomed, “Margy,” as she is known to many of her classmates, is good natured and a grand person to know. She plans to enter the business field upon graduation. DAVID POLLEN Activities: Thespians 1, 4: Masquers 1, 4: Profile 2, 4; Photography Club 3, 4; Barn! Manager 3; Basketball Manager 2, 3; Commissioner Safety Council 4; Latin Club 2; Spanish Club 2; Commercial Club 4; Special Choir. Conscientious and brilliant, David was in just about every activity in the school. Because he is ambitious, David is always called upon when a job is to be well done, as shown by his excellent talents as Commissioner of our Safety Council. An active member in the Masquers and Thespians, he is a familiar figure on the stage in all dramatic productions. After having completed his Senior year’s work in half the time it usually takes, he graduated in January and then went on with his education at Swartlunore. VIOLA PRZYGOCKI Activities: Cheerleader 2, 3, 4; Latin Club 1, 2, 3; Tattler 1, 2, 3, 4; Editor 4: Alpha 1, 2, 3, 4: Photography Club 3, 4; Senior Play 4. There’s one in every Senior Class and here she is. Viola is one of the few individuals who possesses enough charm and good nature to be equally popular with faculty and students; enough intelligence and ambition to maintain excellent scholastic records and still be an active member of so many organizations. We probably know “Mousie” best for her turned up nose, easy laugh, and vivacious cheerleading. Viola plans to attend college next fall. 32
