ETHEL BIGGERS Reading and collecting foreign money are Ethel's hobbies, while she finds the scenery along the Hudson, as viewed from a boat, most enjoyable. Quiet and courteous, Ethel seems to enjoy school, especially English and Home Economics. Ethel's ambition is to attend a secretarial school. Her co-operative nature will help her to become an efficient secretary. G1LDA BLOOM Activities: Latin Club 1,2; Alpha 1, 2, 3, 4; Spanish Club 2, 3, 4; Fencing 3; Tattler 2, 3, 4; Bowling 1. Gilda besides being the possessor of beautiful auburn hair, is a brilliant and conscientious student. Being a member of the Alpha for four years proves Gilda’s scholastic ability. Gilda, or “Cookie as she is better known, intends to go to college and continue her educa-cation. We are sure that she will be successful in whatever field of study she chooses. MARIE BOJENSKI Activities: Latin Club 1, 2, 3; Profile, Literary Staff 4; Color Guard 4; Spanish Club 2, 3, 4; Tattler Staff 1, 2, 3, 4; Masquers 1, 2, 3, 4; Bowling (dub 1; Home Room Secretary 3; Executive Committee 4; Junior Prom Committee; 3; Senior Ball Committee 4; Senior Play 4; Senior Nomination Committee 4. Here is the typical high school girl—all the way from corduroy jacket to bohby socks. “Clam” is a girl with a “super” quantity of sparkle and vim. One of our hest dressed Seniors she will always he remembered for her quick smile and “corny” jokes. Marie likes plenty of fun and possesses a strong dislike for conceit in a fellow student. Next year this popular girl plans to enter Katherine Gibbs Business School. IRIS BESSELL Activities: Bowling Cluh 1; Latin Club 1, 2; Spanish Club 2, 3, 4; Commercial Club 4; Riverhead All State Music Conference 4; Glee Club 3, 4; Mixed Choir 3. Uppermost in Iris' mind is her desire to become a choral director. With Miss Thompson as her inspiration, Iris has become very fond of music. Her natural ability for it is not only illustrated by her ukulele playing, but also by her lovely voice which she has lent to the Glee Cluh on many occasions. Iris is popular among her fellow classmates and a good student. ANTHONY BRUGES Activities: Varsity Football 3, 4; Spanish Club 3; Vice-President of Senior Class '46. Bruges has well carried the tradition of the school by means of his scholastic record and his humor. The phrase, “For he’s a jolly good fellow” can be readily applied to him. Friendly with everyone, jovial Anthony makes no distinctions between his classmates and leaves behind in our school, good humor, wit, and an excellent impression in the minds of the faculty and the students. He was the “spark” of the Senior Class of '46. 15

J CATHERINE BABCOCK Activities: Art Club 3, 4; Secretary, Treasurer 4; Latin Club 1, 2, 3, 4; Pro-Consul 4; Photography 4; Fencing Club 3; Alpha 1, 2, 3, 4: Senior Ball Decorating Committee; Bowling Club 1; Glee Club 1, 2, 3; Profile 4. “Cathy,” very blond and tall is one of the nicest girls in the Senior class. Very friendly and cheerful, she has the rare combination of beauty and brains. Cathy is soft-spoken, good-natured and has a certain charm that draws you to her. Among her likes are Chemistry, swimming and traveling. Cathy’s ambition is to go to an Art School to become a fashion illustrator. JOHN BERGANO Activities: Gym Team 4. “John” is that peppy senior who always manages to stand out in every crowd. His pet hobby throughout his senior year was annoying Miss Brandhorst. He has other hobbies also, such as swimming, and dancing. Business being John's particular interest, he intends to develop one of his own. We are sure that with his everlasting vigor and vitality he will he a success in his business no matter what it may be. PASQUALE BARBIERI Activities: Profile Business Staff 4; French Club 3. Patsy is a big boy with a big heart. Self assured and friendly, his seriousness is always punctuated with a joke or two. Pat is a swell boy to know and a grand friend to have. His future bolds additional study in the field of agriculture. ALICE BERESNIEWICZ Activities: Basketball 1, 2, 3, 4; Commercial Club I, 2, 3, 4; Tattler 3, 4; Transcription Manager 4; Safety Council 2; Profile 4. Pretty and popular. Alice is one of the best dressed girls in the Senior class. She is the possessor of a sparkling personality, ready wit and a constant smile, all of which make her well-liked by all ho know her. Dancing, rollerskating and basketball top her list of favorites. Being on the Transcription Staff of the Tattler and Manager in her fourth year, has given Alice plenty of experience for her future career, which lies in the field of stenography. EVELYN BERESNIEWICZ Activities: Basketball 1, 2, 3, 4; Commercial Club 2, 3, 4; Vice-Pres. 3, 4; Safety Council 2; Executive Committee; Baseball; Profile 4. A vivid personality and friendly manner characterize Evelyn in every way. An ardent player of basketball, Evelyn has been honor d with the captaincy of the Girl’s Honor Squad. She is an active member of the Commercial Club and plans to enter the business world as a bookkeeper. With her efficiency and eagerness it is certain she will be a success. •1

LUCY CAPPIELLO Activities: Latin Club 2, 3, 4; Spanish Club 3, 4: Secretary 4; Safety Council 4; Tattler 2, 3, 4; Literary Staff of Profile 4; President of Home Hoom 3. “Lu” is the lucky possessor of shiny brunette locks and smoky brown eyes. She takes an interest in all sports, but horseback riding rates the highest on her list. Always to be well' groomed, friendly and charming seem to be the rules which make up “Lu’s” character and personality. We know that she will make an excellent interpreter of any language she chooses. GEORGE CATHCART Activities: Color Guard; Business Staff, Profile. Sandy-haired and good natured, George is always the center of any crowd. George is also one of Glen Cove High's most ardent football and basketball fans and attends every game to root our teams on to victory. Remember his red and green umbrella? Up to the minute in his knowledge of current events, we like to think of George as a future politician, although he intends to join the Army. Good luck, George! ROSE CARISTO Activities: Tennis 1; Bowling 1; Baseball 1; Spanish Club 3, 4. Rose has made her presence felt not only by her fine loyal spirit, but by her pleasant, friendly, manner. Usually seen with Dora Del Colie, Rose is very fond of singing popular songs. The care and neatness of her own hair assures us that she will do well as a beautician. ROLF CARLSEN Activities: Baseball 1; Latin Club 1; Spanish Club 4; Track 3; Basketball 1, 2, 3; Football 1, 2, 3, 4. “Rolfie,” can we find words to describe him, or shall we just say that lie's grand? We bet there isn't a girl in the school who hasn't had her cheek pinched by “Stuff,'' or a fellow who hasn't fallen in with his contagious laugh, or anyone anywhere who doesn’t think he’s tops. “Stuff excels in any sport he participates in and enjoys them all. He dislikes girls who wear too much make-up. So spare the powder gals, if you want to rate with the “most dated Senior boy.” Rolf wants to attend Penn. State and continue playing football. PAULINE CARUCCIO Activities: Spanish Club 3, 4. Pauline has a quiet personality but is always willing to lend a hand when someone is in need. Math is popular with her and she also possesses the ability to sew well. As she likes to fix hair, her ambition is to be a beautician. To fulfill this Pauline will attend Beautician School after graduation. V 1C
