VIRGIL LEWIS Principal Faculty MISS COMPTON Music eniors Graduahon And Sensors Recall Four Years Af G. H. S. We have reached it loved it and are now about to leave ll Our Year as some people express it is fast coming to a close and we as semors would hke to wrlte some of those things that stand out in our minds as we fuush htgh school. Remember the football and basketball pep meet ings, the racmg to class with three seconds left before the tardy bell rang or not racing to class and making up time after school? Everybody will remember the crinohne fad the pony tails the out of town football and basketball trips the Fifth Regional Championship in 1955 the assemblies the S P Q R. initiauons the vacations! These things along with many others will long be in the memory of every graduating semor of 1957 Let s look back to 1953 when weentered Glasgow High, We thought ourselves neat and nifty Our advisors were Mr Moore and Mrs Shirley We chose our schedule and after a few practlce runs we learned where our classes met Algebra and Latin left their marks but we were making ourselves known Well, at least we were gettmg m the way Time marches on' It was September 1954 our adv1sors were Mrs Shirley and Miss Hume We were a year older thus wtser but not sadder Just two more rungs or plateaus and our climb would be ftmshed We conquered World History and Biology with enthusiasm which only sophomores possess After our usual three months rest we were back and at our best Now Juniors and much ahve in the term of 55, we had Mrs Shirley and Mr Cole to guide us We sponsored the selling of Christmas cards in order to help our treasury Finally it was our chance to give the Class of 56 an elaborate banquet Harbor Lights was the theme the food was excellent andwethought the whole evening a complete success We saw the seniors through Baccalaureate and Commencement reallzmg all the time that we were next At last we were there ,Toe Dickinson was to lead us with Richard Wheeler as Vice President and Martha Dickinson as Secretary ofthe Senior class Joan Gibbons was elected Treasurer Misses Davis and Smith were right there to advise us Judy Redman Cecile Wilson ,Toe Dickinson Margaret Bunnell and ues leading our organizations Joel Wilson was running touchdowns and Sue Sabens was our reigning football queen Kay Beats the Band was abig success Really it was worth the weeks of hard work. No semor really minded the expenses for 1.l'lVl tattons cards and rings We knew they were coming and we had been looking forward to them for at least three years Now as we look back on it all we realize the tremendous wealth that is stored in the walls of old G H.S ' She holds many asecret desire and wish which have come true We are proud to be students here and for years to come we shall be proud to be alumni l O football queens, the band campsl and the Christmas Ruth Faye Eubank were in the middle of all the activi- eniors JOE DICKINSON "Jose" President Latin Club Secretary l, Consul 2g Wee Scientist Vice-President 3, President 45 Senior Play 4, RICHARD WHEELER "Ricardo" Vice-President Band 1,2,3,4g Beta Club 3,4g Wee Scientist 2,3,4g Varsity Football 3.4, Spanish Club 1,2.
