Taylor has had a long career as a teacher and as a school administrator. He has been associated with school work for the past 45 years. He has built our school district from 6 square miles to 248 square miles, ln the past he has been a teacher, coach, and superintendent of schools He is the founder of the transportation-of-students system. He was nominated for the Kansas Master Teachers. We are Very grateful to Mr. Taylor for his outstanding leadership. PRINCIPAL Mr. Frank jameson, our principal, keeps numerous records, holds staff and student meetings, co-ordinates the . extra-curricular program and makes announcements on the intercom. Although he is one of the busiest men at the school, he is never too busy to give needed advice or a friendly smile. We take this opportunity to express our appreciation for all he has done. Mrs. Alice Nelson is one of the busiest people in school and always ready to help in any Way she can-- and with a cheerful smile. We appreci- ate her very much, and we want to take this opportunity to let her know. Mr. Charles Kauffman, our guid- ance counselor, supervises student programming, establishes registration procedures, and aids in scholarship programs. He is always eager to help whether problems are grades, school or personal. We are grateful for all his untiring counseling. The custodians of Girard High School are very active in keeping our school clean and running smoothly. They walk approxi- matley l0 miles cleaning 220, 000 squar feet of floor space daily. The seven bus drivers of Girard High School bring 458 students to school each day. The total number of miles traveled by these drivers in an average month in ap- proximately 8, 772 miles. One boy and one girl are elected from each class. A president is elected from the en- tire student body. This organization is responsible for school parties, victory parties, and many other activities including the election of Mr. Backfield, Mr. Lineman, and Mr. Basketball. The Student Council is also responsible for the student activities center in the base- ment during noon hour. They help boost school spirit by selling pens, stickers, car tags, and participating in the Homecoming with a float. They also sell coffee and hot dogs at home basketball games. S. as the Trojans completed the third un- defeated season in five years under C oach Adams on. By being undefeated, the Trojans became C.N.C. Champs and set a new school record by scoring 368 points in nine games While holding their opponents to only 68 points The top scorers Were: Greg Bever, 783 Dick Sturdevant, 623 and Jerome Beezley, 55. Greg Bever tied the school record of five touchdowns in one game. Larry Harts Was selected first team Southeast Area team by the Topeka Daily Capitol. Jerome Beezley and Alan Mein were picked honorable mention All State by the Kansas City Star. As this years' success ends, the "mighty Senior ll" leaves the chal- lenge of another undefeated season to next years team.
