Three Rungs To Go Our class started out at the bottom of the ladder as being one of the largest classes to enroll . As we climbed the first six rungs, our class grew larger and louder. ln the third grade a certain few always developed a sudden fever and retired to the clinic ---- at least until Spanish class was over. ln the sixth grade Sue Stephens and Wayne Gravley and our newest and only Scottish member, Peter Lyall, joined us. On the seventh rung we were sent to the Old High School. In spite of falling plaster and leaky ceil- ings, we had loads of fun. Remember the Truth or Consequences Show , going to Little Band, and getting on the probation list? Here we met Miss Lucylle with a poppy in her hair and a whistle in her mouth. This was the year that Tommy Davidson came roaring in on his shiny red motorcycle. The eighth rung was nearly broken by the thundering herd as we iourneyed out to Indian Rock, Hey, Kids! Do you remember our eighth grade parties, trips to the office, and climbing on top of the building? Do you remember when Indian Rock and Union Ridge consolidated with Gilmer and broughtus a swell bunch of kids? Do you remember the picnics at the end of school? We did everything from swinging on a grape- vine to killing snakes. All of us fell in a creek and got soaked to the skin. Then came graduation and the dance afterwards which made us officially Fish Now that we have just begun our ninth rung, we realize that we left the ladder weak and broken in many places. We have three rungs to go and hope to make these even happier and more successful . nFishu
