Giles National Scholorship The purpose of the National Honor Society is to recognize outstanding scholarship. Other qualities taken into consideration for membership are character, service and leadership. Members are elected by the faculty or a faculty committee. Students from the junior class, to be eligible for the New River Chapter, must have at least a 3.5 average. Candidates from the senior class must have at least a 3.1 5 average. From the profit on stationery sales the Chapter has been able to award a scholarship to a Giles High School graduate for the past two years. The recipient is chosen from the entire senior class by a faculty committee which the Chapter members select. National Honor Society mem- bers are also available for individual tutoring.
