The Gilbert Dramatic Club, founded under the direction of Mr. Herbert Oviatt, jr.,
celebrated its thirteenth birthday this year. The purpose of the club has always been to
allow those interested in dramatics to increase their knowledge and to develop their ability
in this Held.
At Christmas the club presented for the faculty and student body "Why the Chimes
Rang," a very effective pantomime arranged by Martha Race. This program made it possi-
ble for all the club members to participate in some phase of dramatic work such asg make-
up, costumes, music, scenery, acting, and stage craft.
In March, a successful program of one-act plays was given as a public performance.
With the proceeds from this entertainment the club hopes to purchase new stage equipment.

of .various departments and special class and sport pages has made the News more repre-
sentative of the student body and more able to encourage participation in sports, extra-

November, the Gilbert School News presented an hour panel discussion on feature
