This is a yearbook: at best, a token of involvement: the complexities of an instant are far beyond the simplicity and understanding of an hour. pening? ,W 111 h 4 I if iw W. Zlgiz f-, ,,,- , ' WW S5 W gi -f-1,: ' i f ' W ,.,. Q-w,,., S rele School begins with a changing season And a changing attitude. The coming of fall draws us away From summer's pleasures And submerges us in work, in routine. arn to seek out our separate goals But are drawn together in the spirit of The team. A summer practice, A scrimmage, And a marching band, perfecting the Victory song, All symbolize the unity And the climate of optimism in the ideal season of our lives. 6 The suddenness of a smile The eternity of a rippling stream, The temporality of a creative thought: Products of a captured token of time, Wherein we shape our tomorrows. As night begins the day, Yesterday starts tomorrow. A solitary glimpse backward of shoes Scuffing carelessly down the corridor, Reminds us of almost forgotten years: The years we raced a tireless clock Not troubling to ponder why, Nor to seek direction. Only to pull or push, to laugh or cry To seek a reflective moment. Whether we are building, competing or fearing the emphasis is "togetherg" and the song is ours. But the playing is yours . . . and his . . . and mine. The harmony is too complex, too rich, too full to be easily contained in a scale and the tones fall separately upon the ear. Only the integrating resolves the dissonance and realizes the symphony. P D d 9 The day that passes Asks Only to be noticed: In time unhurried, To reflect On what we have accomplishedg To feel What cannot be seeng To see what cannot Be heard. Thoughts that drift By a day's end Question our experiences. in .Z is GUIDANCE C OUNS ELOR SUPERINTENDENT- PRINCIPAL JAMES DEBT-ER THOMAS W. WILSON B. Good-bye kisses were exchanged and 24 excited seniors, along with I oyce and Fred Bern- hard boarded the plane for the Big City. Seat belts were fast- ened, directions given, and then we were whisked up, up, and away. After landing we gath- ered lugglage and loaded the bus t at would take us l to the Edison Hotel. Rooms were assigned and then we had lunch at Howard Iohnson's, around the corner from the hotel. Before the first da was over we knew we hadyleft G-burg behind for city life! While there we visited Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Bowery, Chinatown, Stat- ue of Liberty, Empire State Building, crossed long bridges, saw the Time an Life Building, visited Radio City Music Hall, United Nations, Greenwich Villa e, saw The Little Churci Around the Corner, Hansom cabs, y visited the Philharmonic 1 Hall, the Metropolitan Opera House an saw Times Square. We walked miles, rode y busses, subways, and some of us saw the city from the windows of a taxi. On May 20, the tired bedraggled seniors again boarde the TWA plane. 'I'his time they were head- ed west to home, sweet home. Some will get to New York again, but no one will ever forget the three fun filled days of their SENIOR CLASS TRIP. -amd Miss Cheryl Applegate escorted by i Randall Bowman Flower Girl - Polly Hufford Crown Bearer - Brian Witwer Homecommg X970 1967 HOMECOMING QUEEN Mrs. Sharon Knick escorted by Miss Connie Sherry Harry KiI1I1iS0H escorted by Mike Menke Miss Diane Beisner escorted by Dennis Barhorst Miss Susan Wehrley escorted by Chris Ritz Miss Peg Bigham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gail Bighani, and es- corted by Doug Erisman, was crowned 1970 HOME- COMING QUEEN on Jan- uary 23, 1970.
