M My dear Students: Family Life, the theme you have chosen for the Year Book, is a very important one. The family plays an irreplaceable role in our society and Church. It is the center of love and life. In fact, as the development of family life goes, so goes our society. As our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II has said: nToday's homes determine tomorrow's society.n It is in the family where you first experience love and where you learn how to share and to be kind, patient and forgiving. From our family experience we learn also that God is the Father of the entire human family and we become more aware of our other brothers and sisters. Preserve and safeguard your family values. May the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary and Joseph guide and protect you. May God bless you and give you His peace. Faithfully yours in Christ, +fZ..W,... -WM? Most Revere Thomas J. Freshman-Junior Float This is Our Float -J' A lot of hard work goes into a float W Qt' The winning float - Sophomores-Seniors This years homecoming was a very exciting one. Everyone was in the spirit and wanted to show that Gerard is number one. As a tradition, the seniors and sophomores worked hard in building a float, with the juniors and freshman doing the same. To top off the spirit that came along with homecom- ing, there was class competition. Each class was given the chance to show their spirit. The class that won this year, were the seniors. Not only did they win the most spirited class but the senior-sophomore float won. 1 MRD 1 M. r 4 1 -Q -'cr' , Our Favorites of '84 orite Group - Van Ha- Favorite Song - JUMP f- Favorite A t - Tom Cruise - Favorite Movie - Risky Business Starring W - Tom Cruise F VAN HALE N YAETWT NNEESQA coca Favorite Singer - XYNNCQ, 54tCQfv?,tX QQFLC Favorite Radio Station - KUPD 4.,'x. Each day after school all girls would go out and practice un- der the guidance of their coaches fthe football playersj for at least two hours a shot. The game took place on the last day of school before Thanksgiving break. The day started with a liturgy and then the students attended classes for a short three and a half hours! Last year's game was won by the classes of 1985 and 1983 so it seemed only fitting that the game this year should be won by the classes of 1984 and 1986! The only touchdown scored by the teams was scored on a run by Marta Ortiz. Good go- ing girls! i r fi A ---....,,:, .Kg ,-vi 7. Y ' , I .1 'Se of ' A Night for Sweethearts Coronation is a yearly tradition at Ge- rard where two Juniors are selected by their classmates to be the Coronation King and Queen. This year we had ties in the nominations and ended up with seven couples instead of the traditional six. It was a hard decision to pick two out of all of them. The dance was held at Thomas More Hall. The seniors put on the event, decorations and all. The high point came when the 1984 King and Queen were announced. Kari Boyle and Tim Carlson made an attractice couple as they ac- cepted their crowns and shared the coro- nation dance. Tim gives Susie a lift 1983 Queen, Jenny Sanders gives 1984 Queen Kari Boyle the royal robe and crown 22 King and Queen, Tim and Kari, share a dance Susie Smith and Jeff Horvath Cornonation Nominees Kara Latin and David Carroll Kari Boyle and Tim Carlson Beth Kerber and Rich Murphy 1 H. -nrt I V I I 4 K F4 Paula Vaananen and Jeff Gourlcy Suzy Gilb and B.J. The second day was devoted to private colleges and Christian col- leges. These special days offer the stu- dents to plan for their future years. They can ask questions of the admin- '- J istrators and find out just what they need to know to find the college thatis right for them. Choosing a college to attend is a exciting and frightening experience. The days helped the students to get a head start on their future and to do so with confidence. VQQ 'xX:1...1'+ A Hey!
