g af: Coach Burcham contemplates his next strategic move. The boys Varsity basketball team had another successful year, finishing with a 6-4 divisional record C10-10 overallj and advancing tothe first round of the state playoffs. This was the fourth year in a row that the Redcoats have made it to the playoffs. It was made possible this year by a 64-59, season-ending upset of Central Division champs Independence. One player from this year's team, senior Frank Villar, made the All-Division team and two players, senior Tom Charbonneau and Mark Jazwin, received Honorable Mention. Villar also led the team in scoring and rebounding. Jazwin led in assists. 62 Punch him Frank, punch him!

The runners won nearly all of their meets and went on to place seeond in the Central Division AA State Meet. The team's leading runner. Iiraneis Nahity won every meet and meet and invitation- al Gerard participated in. including Divisionals. and placed -lth in Arizona at the State Meet. Nabity. a junior has one more year on Gerard's Cross Country team. during whieh he will strive to achieve what it takes to become State Cham- pion. 'lhis year. for the first time, ciCl'lll'ti has hegun a new tradition - a Girls Cross Country team. At first. there were only a few hrave members: Carol Mitchell and Sain Svetlik. Karen l.isiew- ski. two less than are needed fora team. Then. on the first day ofthe Ist meet Leslie l'lai'ni'y lltiw and Tina Carson joined them and the girls pushed themselves through the worlsfouts and finished a respectable 3rd place in the Division- al Meet. 6l
