Top Row: Rodi Vehr, Angie Whistler, Paula Vaananen, Sheila Vaananen, Suzanne Monthofer, Trish Novascone, Kathy Bilinski Sargent, Carol Stevens, Susan Bayer, Suzanne Gilb, Annie Glenn, Bonnie Johnson, Lisa Jankovsky. The National Honor Society is indeed just that - it is a national organiza- tion which recognizes and honors outstanding students in the areas of charac- ter, leadership, scholarship, and service. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.6 are eligible to be chosen as members by a faculty committee. Mrs. MeKallor replaced Sr. Laurent as moderator this year, demonstrating enthusiasm and organization, making the group's events, such as the Thanks- giving Project. the Academic Bowl, the NHS picnic, and the Induction Cere- mony very exciting and successful. For the first time, sophomores were induct- ed without first serving one year as a probationary member. President Guy Lucas, Vice President Claire Friend, Secretary Carolyn Murphy, and Trea- surer Suzanne Monthofer ended their service as officers of the society, handing their positions over to new junior leaders. The NHS seal has a special meaning to those students who belong to the National Honor Society. They have been inducted into this society with the four special qualities which are honored by many.
