The National Honor Society is indeed just that - it is a national organiza- tion which recognizes and honors outstanding students in the areas of charac- ter, leadership, scholarship, and service. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.6 are eligible to be chosen as members by a faculty committee. Mrs. MeKallor replaced Sr. Laurent as moderator this year, demonstrating enthusiasm and organization, making the group's events, such as the Thanks- giving Project. the Academic Bowl, the NHS picnic, and the Induction Cere- mony very exciting and successful. For the first time, sophomores were induct- ed without first serving one year as a probationary member. President Guy Lucas, Vice President Claire Friend, Secretary Carolyn Murphy, and Trea- surer Suzanne Monthofer ended their service as officers of the society, handing their positions over to new junior leaders. The NHS seal has a special meaning to those students who belong to the National Honor Society. They have been inducted into this society with the four special qualities which are honored by many.
