Christian Philosoph Gains for Gerard The community of students, facul- ty, staff, and parents of Gerard Catholic High School is dedicated to following the philosophy that they should represent the values of Chris- tianity, values that are of highest pri- ority in the formation of the whole person. The educative process is re- garded as a means of guiding students in developing a faith that is alive, con- scious and active, while enhancing the dignity of every student by pursu- ing academic excellence and encour- aging a spiritual, social, emotional and physical development. The community of Gerard Catho- lic has been guided by these ideals since l962, when it was founded, and during the past year has gone through a long evaluative process which has given all members a comprehensive view of how well these ideals have been adhered to. The evaluators, all professional educators, commended Gerard Catholic High School as hav- ing lived its philisophy, being an ex- plicit sign of Christian life, as evi- denced by a persuasive spirit of unity and genuine concern for oth- ers. The entire community of Gerard Catholic participated during this year of self-evaluation, and many, such as Dr. Brandt, the faculty, and the stu- dents, put in endless hours of work and effort, and succeeded in honestly evaluating the school. Gerard was found to truly be a special kind of place, where, as a community we all pray, work, play, share, care for one another, and grow together in Christ. The process was one which, like many other activities of Gerard, promoted spirit and unity. And though we have been accomplishing our goals for many years, we now have finally re- ceived an official stamp of approval, and certificates and letters of accredi- tation by the North Central Associ- ation and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in conjunction with the Western Catholic Education Association. ccreditation After this there are only 79 trees left to plant
