pau-we 4-4- M Mascots Help Bring Spirit Alive Patty Gallagher and Katy Tongy, who helped with the spirit at our school. This year we tried to get the crowd involved as much as possible. We just let go and had a good time. We acted pretty crazy sometimes, and we loved it! I think l'm gonna buy Patty a San Diego Chicken outfit and send her their way!! Katy Toney Valarie Rivas and Eileen Holland were Mascots for Varsity Basketball. lt takes a lot of different and exciting qualities to be a Gerard Mascot. A combination.of wit, laughter and the willingness to do almost anything to get the crowd going, is what makes our Mascots special. Patty Galla- gher and Katy Toney joined together their special qualities during the Varsity Football games to make the crowd come alive. Kerry Tighe and Many McGuire proved their dedication to Gerard as they helped cheer the J.V. Football team on. Valerie Ftivas and Eileen Holland joined with the Varsity Cheerleaders to show the Basketball team how spirited we can be. Sharon Medland and Kris Maney helped with the J.V. for the same purpose, to bring out the true Ftedcoat spirit. We offer thanks to all the combined efforts of these girls. They helped bring out the great spirit in us all.

The Unionjack is written to inform students, as well as parents, about different happen- ings at Gerard. Gerard exchanges news- papers with other schools to share ideas and formats. The co-editors of the news- paper are Greg Turner and Harry Bartel. Fr. Luken is the moderator of the Unionjack. It's his first year here and he likes working at Gerard and with the students. The Union- jack staff is a group of dedicated people who receive experience in journalism by working on the paper.
