United effort leads team to victory. azmam f This years Varsity Cheer Squad had many dif- ferent personalities to bring together. The squad had new members and this must result in a change of style. lt was all brought together at this years summer Cheer Camp at N.A.U. Cheer seems to be a never ending practice session. The line started at the end of the 1980 school year, practiced throughout the summer and then practiced after school when it started again. The proccess is something that can easily become quite routine, but every day there is something new to tell the girls or there is a new cheer to learn. Spending so much time with each other can be both good and bad. The girls became a lot closer as friends.

76 J.V. Cheer Prepares for Varsity Captain, Judy England Practice, practice, and more practice. It's a year-round terrr for the J.V. Cheer line. Starting at the beginning of the sum mer, the newly chosen squad works together every day of the week to become a line, and to perfect their cheers for camp At camp they learn new cheers and chants, and basic cheer leading methods. They not only learn about cheering, but also about how to get along with each other and how to work to gether. Judy England J.V. cheer captain, expressed this, It's no easy working with the same girls every day for a whole year but, as we get to know each other, we each learn to give a little and accept each other, and that makes it all worth while.' The J.V. Cheer line not only practiced for camp but it's owr games. For when Homecoming and State playoffs rollei around, they could be seen practicing every day with th Varsity line to get ready for the big game on Friday night. J.V. cheer was important to me because it was fun and I liken helping raise the spirit at Gerard. Lia Sargent Girls prepare for their last day at N.A.U. J.V. waiting to do cheer.
