Although they had it rough this year, the team built their endurance and their team spirit. Coached by Louie Mallet, the wrestlers made great strides in self-improvement. Each wrestler had put forth his very best in each match to overcome his oppo- nent. Wrestling is not a team effort but an individual effort that has to be the very best in order to win your match. Tony Mack put out an outstanding ef- fort this year and was an important part of the team. Other outstanding ef- forts this year came from Bob Filler, Mike Fleming and John Licosati.

62 Softball: Hard Work and Concentration Gerard Opponent 7 Dysart 5 Cactus 5 Peoria 23 Dysart 8 Independence 8 Globe 7 Peoria 5 Mingus 10 Gilbert 8 Independence 5 Bourgade 5 Corona Del Sol Softball is a game that takes a lot of concentration and hard work. When you are out on the field or at the batters box, you have to be concentrating on one thing, what do I do? This year's softball team is learning how to use their many talents in order to function as a team. Softball is a team sport. Not one player can do it alone. The fielders rely on the pit- cher, and the pitcher relies on the fielders. It is a total team effort. Gerard's girls softball team prac- tices long and hard to learn the basics of the game, and how to work with their teammates. The girls softball team has a lot of unity and we have come a long way. Joyce Winn Front Flow: Donna Erhard, Stephanie Pina, Dana Falconer, Denise Calcagno. Second Row: Donna Baker, Joyce Winn, Lisa Jankovsky, Patty Gallagher, Tina Carson. Third How: Coach John Koestner, Bridgette Moya, Kelly Mullan, Amy Giltner, Nancy Richardson, Kathy Brown.
