' W. 0 1 ' .ri 'V it :sf ' a Q . 1 9-.1 , John Svetlik, a Senior at Gerard, ranks number one in his class. Next year John plans on going to Arizona State University. Although he isn't certain what he would like to major in, he has a great interest in the Performing Arts, and is considering radio as a career. John came to Gerard as a Sophomore, from Neillseille High School in Wisconsin. John has been active in Student Council as Junior Class President and this year as President of both the Band and the Drama Club. John has made Gerard proud by being a National Merit Scholarship Finalist and a Presidential Scholar nominee. Sheila Saunders, a Senior at Gerard, is ranking number two in her class. Next year Sheila plans to attend either Arizona State University or University of California at San Diego to study medicine. She has been very active here at Gerard and from Freshman to Junior year, she partici- patecl in Drama, Pep Club, Volleyball and Track. Some of Sheila's activities include Youth For Life, National Honor Society, Newspaper, and Student Council. Sheila's hob- bies include reading and participating in the different sport activities. Some of her many achievements include the Sertoma Award, Who's Who, Society of Distinguished American High School Students, National Merit Finalist, and Anytown delegate. Harry Bartel ranks number one in the Junior Class here at Gerard. Flight now, Harry is in the process of choosing which college he plans to attend. He is considering either Harvard or Stanford University. He plans on pursuing a career in business law. This year Harry is the Junior Class President, a member of the National Honor Society, and co- editor of the school newspaper, the Unionjack. He is running for Student Body President and hopes to make Student Council more responsive to the average Gerard student. Last summer, he went to Anytown and learned how to deal with people. This summer, he will be a delegate to Boys State. In both his Freshman and Sophomore years, Harry placed among the top ten students in the State Math Test. Also, when Harry was a Freshman, he won the Knights of Columbus Essay Contest. In his spare time, Harry enjoys bowling and playing tennis. Julie Allen is second in the Junior Class. She takes pride in her academic and scholastic achievements. She is Secre- tary of the Drama Club and is a member of the track team. Besides high jumping, in Track, she enjoys the more down to earth aspects of jogging. Julie is thinking of studying the field of microbiology. :Ty ' ' I-P

Top Duos Show Pride L, .X . ,, ,, j . HF' 'i 1Jz?fi ' 'W N 'V' -'J' I 'sr' James Gilb is a Sophomore this year at Gerard. He grad- uated from St. Thomas Grade School. James, number one in the Sophomore Class, will either go to Arizona State University or enter the Air Force Academy. He plans on entering the field of engineering or mathematics. James is involved in many sport activities such as Foot- ball, Wrestling and Track. ln his spare time James plays Softball, Volleyball and Basketball for the Church. James also has some interest in weight lifting and loves to play missle command. Last year, James won the State Math Contest. He also is a member of the Catholic Youth Or- ganization. Lisa Jankovsky is a Sophomore this year at Gerard, ranking number two in her class. Lisa came to us from St. Theresa Grade School. When asked where she would like to go to college, Lisa said she was seriously con- sidering Arizona State University among her choices. There she would study architecture or engineering. One of her favorite hobbies is building doll houses and she is a member of the Catholic Youth Organization. However, she is constantly involved in sports and has received many awards. For example, The Hussler Award last year in Softball and was co-captain in Basketball. This year, she was voted outstanding teammate in Volleyball. Jamie Sandoval came to Gerard from Monte Vista Grade School. Jamie, ranking number one in the Freshman Class, says, I really love Gerard and think that each of the stu- dents is extremely outgoing and willing to help. Jamie really hasn't considered any college as' of yet but is thinking about entering a career in journalism. This year, Jamie is on the Yearbook Staff and Track. ln her spare time, Jamie enjoys jogging and reading. Trisha Novascone graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Grade School. Trisha, ranking number two in her class, hasn't really thought about what college she would like to attend but would like to work with children as her career. This year, Trisha is involved in Yearbook, Arizona Youth for Life, and Liturgy Committee. When asked what she likes to do in her spare time, Trisha said she enjoys swimming and reading. For the past two years, Trisha has volunteered her time to a local nursing home. This summer, Trisha is plan- ning on becoming a candystriper at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. When asked why she came to Gerard, she said, I came to Gerard because I knew that the students and teachers would be caring and concerned. I, F, Yi liz
