ascball Softball, and Track Arc Qff To A ood Start! 9 This is the fourth year that Mr. Stone is head coach in baseball. He says that this year's team is young, but has a chance of becoming a solid team as the season progresses. The advantage of this year's team, he continued, is that they have a good attitude, good team speed and, hopefully, good team defense. Stone said, however, that the one team weakness is lack of experience, which will be overcome in this up- coming season. Mr. Bucy is coach for the girls' softball team for his second year. He says that this year's players show a lot of hustle on the field. Student teacher, Susie Calderon, who is on scholarship for pitching softball at A.S. U., is assistant coach for this year's team. All in all, the softball team expects a good season. Says Coach Bucy, The girls show a lot ofenthusiasm . . . un- til it's time to run tapsfi Mr. Keck has been working with track for three years, the Jhfrst year as an assistant coach, and the last two years as head coach. Coach Keck anticipates a good sea- son, and has noticed special talents in some of the track participants: jar example, Tom Kirkegaard in the pole vault, Pete Schwan in the high hur- dles and Chris Radcliffe in the high jump. Mr. Keck also states that this year's girls' 440 relay team is prom- ising. The track team is also fortu- nate to have Jenny Ross, who was a state medalist two years ago.
