French Textile School has proven valuable and popular. The department is equipped for perform- inij practically every process of cotton manipulation from the cotton field to the finished product. The student in textile engineering is given a well roimdeil eilu- cation in other phases of engineering offered in the school. The four-year course leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineer- ing while for the two-year course a certif- icate is given. Parallel with the theoretical work are carefully planned laboratopi ' courses be- ginning with the first year in Chemistry and continuing throughout the four years in the sciences and other subjects studied. The four-year course leads to the de- gree of Hachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. ' T ' HE high object of the mechanical engineering profession is to consider and determine the most economic use of time, power and matter. True mechanical engineering is the economical adaptation of the means and opportunities existing to the end desired. The training given in the mechanical engineering department is a stepping stone towards membership in the profession, further dependent of course, on the in- dividual.
