48 I am a little steamer trunk with bright brass trimmings. The most exciting thing happened to me one day. I was sitting in a store win- dow minding my own business, when someone came and carted me away to a little white house. People fussed around me for weeks. I felt sort of Mattered, but it got awfully bothersome after a while. They put clothes in me and took them out continuously. At last they closed me up and sent me to a big building. I ' ve been here for some time now, but I hear that soon I ' m going on a little trip. But I ' ll come back again in about three months to this place where there are so many girls and a few boys. I am a little blue scrapbook trimmed in white. I ' m the prized pos- session of some people who pass me around for all my friends to admire and cherish. On my back are pasted little slips of paper which read One Major Call-down. Then inside, my owner has pasted a lot of pictures. I hear her say at times, I wish I could see John or Jimmy or Mary. Do you remember . . .? But the thing that makes me proud and happy is that so many people take such a personal interest in me. Soon I am to be published in a volume entitled Memoirs of T. C. 8

46 1 am ;i major and minor blank. I ' ve been through a lot this year, and frankly I ' ll be glad when I ' m safely filed in Miss Perry ' s office. I ' ve been lost and found three times alre ady, and I ' ve had things written on and erased off me so many times that I ' m thin in the middle. Right now it ' s English and History, but I know that it just can ' t stay that way long. But anyway, I ' m happy, because I ' ve just heard that I ' m finally going to join all my other little friends in the riling cabinet next year.
