Scores never show what really happens on the field. They don’t show the tension of the last two minutes of the game when there ' s a faint chance for a winning touchdown. They don’t show being " psyched up’’ for a game, being determined to win, and then losing. They don’t show what really counts, the spirit which is in every game, in every practice, in every boy. It’s disappointing to suffer through brutal games, exhausting practices, and still never win. Our varsity players would not accept defeat, they said, " next time we’ll do it.’’ Our j.v.’s season was different. Their hope was changed to certainty in every I game. The novel, exciting atmosphere of Castle Hill in ’69 and the Country Squire in ’70 replaced the traditional, homemade decora- tions of the gym. Though the location was changed the feelings were the same. There were still the first gowns, lacquered hair-dos, and stuffy tuxedos. There was still the anticipation, the fun, and the memories. You never fully realize how much high school has meant to you until it’s all over. In the fall, June can’t come too soon. Senioritis sets in early and never leaves. Once future plans are made, you begin to lose interest. When that last week comes with class day, the class trip, and gradua- tion — all of a sudden it’s too soon. You say it can’t be over already. It was only yesterday, and now tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life. GUEST SPEAKER Jud e Joseph A, Mitchell Yearbook Business Staff Editorial Staff Appreciation.
