OFFICERS spring 1965 The Spring 1965 term was filled with as much excitement, fun, and accomplish- ments as was the Fall term. The Student Body officers made this term one of the best and most memorable. Early in February the officers presented the Treasurer’s Rally which was a great hit and brilliant success. The officers characterized the Addams Family from tele- vision, and tried to persuade Pugsley Addams to buy a Student Body Card. The drive lasted several weeks and concluded with 92% of the Student Body buying cards. The next exciting event was the LlO welcome dance. It proved a huge success drawing over 500 students dancing to the jerk, philie, and many other popular dances. The Class of Fall 1967 added another tradition to George Washington. Yell Leaders were selected to represent Washington at all the forthcoming baseball games. The team appreciated their fine efforts and spirit. George Washington High School was again bestowed the great honor of the Award of Merit from the University of California for the highest grade point average from any high school in California from the graduating class of June 1962. To celebrate this occasion several graduates from the class returned to school for a Scholarship Rally. Junior and Senior Days were different this semester being subject to new' regulations. The dances were both successes drawing a substantial crowd from the student body. The drama department once again presented one of the greatest term plays seen at Washington. The Sound of Music was presented with vigor and enthusiasm and received a good response from its several performances. Two selections were presented on television Easter nite. The students of Washington should all be congratulated for the fine effort that they put forth for the May Festival. A long forgotten tradition of collecting paper back books to earn the May Festival w-as revived. A quota of 3100 books was set, but the students collected over 12,000. The May Festival was fun, exciting, and hilarious for all the students who attended the teacher’s rally and the events of the evening. The semester ended and the work of the officers ceased. Those who participated in the many events offered had many thrilling experiences.
