New York to Paris and beyond The Foreign Language Depart- ment has again sponsored a trip to Europe during the Spring vacation. They left Indianapolis on Friday, April 20, spent the night in New York, and arrived in Paris, France Sunday morning. To start off their adventures, they attended morning mass at Notre Dame Cathedral. The group then visited the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and the Palace of Versailles. After spending three days in Paris, it was then off to Madrid for four more days. Their sight seeing tours included the Prado Art Mus- eum, the Roman Aqueduct, and the Escroial-the palace of Phillip II. A trip to Germany and Switzer- land kept another group of Contin- ental tourists busy. After sight seeing in Munich, they took side trips to Nuremburg, to Berchtesga- den Where Hitler had a hideout, and to Oberammergau, which is fam- ous for its Passion Play. Traveling over snow-covered Alps, the group proceeded to Zurich, where they en- joyed real Swiss cheese and tried their hand at mountain climbing. Jackie Savage, Sherry Rhodarmel, Pam Peay, J. B. P. B. S., Pupil Performance Budget S y s t e m, is a complete change in the method of formulat- ing a school budget. By July 1, 1977, a new budget system is to be introduced for all schools in the state of Indiana. G. W. I-I. S. is a pilot school in the program. At the present time only the pilot schools are involved in form- ing this changeg however, each year I imagine more schools are go- ing to be thrown in, stated Math Department head Mr. Robert Badg- ley. The teachers here are involvedg however, they haven't had time to accomplish very much yet. The way to go about this is for the teacher to write down all his instructional goals and how to mea- sure them. Then the suppliers will be told what will be used and the budgets set up. But the teachers here at Washington are a practical lot. They are doing it backwards. They have the complete amount and they are trying to fill in things for the budget. So what we have to do, states Mr. Badgley, is to keep reap- praising and possibly rewrite some goals and decide what to do to meet them. He also states, The teachers getting involved in writing such things as their goals are benefited. In other words I think it is good. 67 'wan National Honor Society-row 15 Debbie Vielhaber, Diana Seib, Ellen Cook, Stewart Bayer, Sherri Bolinger, Mark Kelly, Vir- ' ginia Barnett. row 23 Dave Toler, Avenell Kessler, Rhonda Book Store-row 13 Kenneth Puckett. row 25 Terri Moore, Vicki Milliner, Haney, Toni Bowman, Sharon Ieennewei., Mike Lucas- row 3: Willie Carter, Wilma Talley. row 35 Toni Payne, Arthur Coleman, Anita Byers, Terri Moore, Debbie Lanne, Marty Martin, Mike Becky Tames, Tony Newland, Cathy Mccreary' Mick, Becky Tames, Tom '1N:veed, Sharon Trammell row 4g Don Tingle, Karen Morton, Tony Newland, Becky Sullivan, Jenny Thomas, Lola Totten, Campus Life-row lg Kandi McCreary, Mike Lawson, Roger row 33 Doris Hawkins, Merrie Wilmington, Debbie Staton, Shel- Brown, Mike Mick, Vince Barker, Tony Cook, Conley Smith. ley Houchins, Robin Craft, Larry White. row 4g Patsy Blanken- r0w 23 Jody Cusson, Lynn Stewart, Nancy Marion, Debbie Seib, ship, Tom Tweed, Patrick Shaw, Vicki SchaHer, Jamie Nichols, Donna Gilbrech, Terri Mervar, Patty Cross, Dave Toler, Anita Gene Parrish, Dennis Day.
